Hi
Since NZ is hopeless market to find parts for so many things Im looking further afield.
Are the broadcasting signals the same here as they are in Australia so if i buy a tuner unit there it will work here?

cyril7: Hi, the standards are similar but not the same, we both use the DVB-T standard, however Oz uses 7MHz channel allocations in both VHF and UHF, where as we use 8MHz allocations in UHF only. We both however use the same or near identical COFDM parameters.
The other major and most significant difference is that Oz uses Mpeg2 coders for both SD and HD streams, we use Mpeg4, naturally the latter can decode the former but not the other way around.
You will find most integrated TVs from the major brands will ask which country you are in with Oz as the common other country, these sets will work in both country setups without issues. Other brands have firmware thats country dependant (including FreeView Mheg requirements) but the builtin decoders will be Mpeg2/4 capable with adaptable 7/8MHz tuners.
