I'm interested in using VBA to automate the generation of some legal documents. I am very new to VBA - I've done a little bit by guesswork and more using word's field function, but am keen to get a more thorough understanding (as well as generally upskilling). I'd prefer a book or an online course (I don't have the time to commit to something regular), but most of the more prominent ones seem to focus primarily on excel.

If it matters, I'm using Office 2013.

I have been learning Vba for the last six months more for Excel than anything. The book I have used mainly is http://au.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-1118490398.html. I have looked athe book you are looking and it is not to bad. Also I have just started a course at Udacity.com Intro to Computer Science which is a good background to decision making etc. Google is also a real good place. The number of times I have googled the code Im having problems on and get some great answers is countless.

Hey, thanks for your help and suggestions. Been going for a week so far on a book I found at the library (I'd kind of forgotten libraries existed...). Interesting so far, though getting my head around the terminology (methods, objects, properties... and then properties that can also be objects) isn't the easiest thing in the world.

lynda.com is a great place to start. The tutorials are very useful and if you google 7 day trial you can try for free. While it is Excel (mainly) once you get the principal it is easy to transfer.
