Hey all,

Currently the only way I can get an internet connection on my desktop PC is by having it bridged to a wifi laptop with an ethernet cable.
So I've been wondering, is it possible to bridge an android phone's wifi internet connection to a PC using a USB cable in the same way that you can do this with wifi tethering for 3G internet?

you just setup the phone as a modem. better still most android phones can be setup as a wifi hotspot. then connect to the Internet via wifi.

I am able to set my phone up to act as a wifi hotspot/ modem using its 3G internet but this isnt really what I want as I only have 100MB/ month.

Basically this is what I'm trying to do:

Internet -> House's Wireless Modem
House's Wireless Modem -> Phone's Wifi Connection
Phone's Wifi Connection -> Desktop PC (via USB cable)

no not going to work with usb. any reason you need to use your phone? why not just put a wireless nic into your desktop?

Yes you can do this, in fact i'm doing it right now.

I just hooked my phone upto the Wifi, then plugged it in via USB and ticked the Tether via USB.

Windows 7 then installed some drivers and i was away. Speed just as quick as if i connect via wifi.

My setup is using a U8150 and android 2.2 (custom ROM).

Yep have done pc->usb-> android-> wifi-> router. using galaxy s 2.3.3 standard apps only.

Thanks for the help, I had it set up the same way as jbard but it turned out I had to install the drivers manually :)

I guess mine installed automatically because i have Android SDK installed.
