KieranfromLightbox:
huckster: Can I add the fact that the connection to Chromecast is lost/restored message which sits over the bottom of the screen (of the android device) hangs around a lot and needs to be swiped/touched over and over again to get rid of it - even after viewing has stopped, Chromecast has been disconnected and Lightbox exited (gracefully)?

When will the Beta be available?

The connection message is designed to be displayed for 2 seconds - although if the connection is dropping in & out it may persist. How long is the message persisting?

Hoping to have the beta made available today so testers can use it over the weekend - but no guarantees at this stage.

If appears that they do not disappear automatically - they seem to queue up. I.e. if it thinks it has lost then reconnected it seems to want to display the lost message until you acknowledge it then it will display the reconnected message.

After 40 minutes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, there are sometimes a dozen such messages that cover the bottom of the screen.

I get the same with an S4 and 4.4.2

I'd be keen to test the beta, with the caveat that I am just an every day LB user. Not any sort of expert.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Sorry - I missed this.  Given that we have a bunch of other users with the same device model who aren't seeing the same error message, there may be something device-specific that's causing it. Do you have a bunch of other apps running in the background at the same time that might be maxing out device memory?

Also, is your device rooted, or parallel imported?

Drop me a PM with your Google Play account email, and I'll add you to the Beta test list.

I'm fairly sure I got an email from AWS last week saying they have a new mobile device test-bed where you can test apps against hundreds of different devices in a few minutes.

Could come in handy for something like this

Yeah this is on our radar - we're looking into it.

The device is rooted but other streaming services work fine, just not lightbox

It also used to work about 4 months ago

(I couldn't see a dedicated Lightbox bug/issue thread, so apologies if I have posted this in the wrong place.)

Enjoying the service overall. Have had a couple of minor Android issues:

1/ Nexus 7 running Android 5.1.1, during playback the navigation popup 'overlay' is behind the picture when I tap the screen. So impossible to pause, scrub back/forward and see title details.

Was watching Twin Peaks (4:3 ratio) and the navigation pokes out each side of the picture. Tried with a 'widescreen' modern show (Sleepy Hollow) and the overlay is not displayed at all, presumbaly entirely behind the playback window(?).

Had to use the standard android back button to return to the LB menu.

2/ I have also seen the widely-reported 'Unfortunately Lightbox has stopped' Report/OK when adjusting the volume in other apps. This has ocurred on Nexus 7 and Moto G (2nd Gen) running 5.0.2.

3/ Using Moto G with Chromecast has been largely successful, but getting the 'lost connection to Chromecast'/'recovered connection to chromecast' message has remained at the bottom of my screen for extended periods. Only really an annoyance, as it is an overlay that cannot be cleared/swiped away.

Many thanks

jc
