xena7051: Well not having much luck......the Telecom supplied  router is restricted, I tried to update the user.ini file changing the role assigned to Administrator userid..with no luck, then creating a new user in the ini file ...same as the Technical support user Telecom must use with no password set...but could logon to either....

Can you explain how it works.....e.g if I set a DNS server to 103.6.212.24 on my router .....how does Unotelly verify that my router which is using their DNS is valid....i.e. I don't see the connection for them to confirm I have a valid use of their DNS

Any other options I have to do this? I don't want to have to but a different router

Could try this link if you still have issues setting up DNS on your ADSL router

Hope it works.

To set the DNS on my Thomson router (Telecom) I do the following...

Telnet to the router..

:dns server forward dnsset flush

:dns server forward dnsset add set=0 dns=103.6.212.24 metric=0 intf=PPPoE

:dns server forward dnsset add set=0 dns=103.1.187.68 metric=0 intf=PPPoE

:saveall

In saying that I use a Roku 3 and streaming Netflix is a hit and miss with DNS unblockers.  Good luck.

HI

First many thanks for your reply. I seem to have made progress with your guidance... not sure what is the commend to enter to confirm everything is now set correctly i.e. the DNS settings on my Router.

When trying to connect through the Roku 2 device (Have borrowed) I get an Internet connection problem. I go through the Roku reconnection setup and its seems to test the connection to the Router and Internet and all is successful, it fails when going to the Netflix app. I can connect via other Apps on the Roku 2 and these (unblocked) TV broadcasts are successful.

I set the DNS 103.6.212.24 as my DNS in the Network settings in my SAMSUNG F6400 TV, reset the Smarthub. I don't have the Netflix App in the list of apps in my SmartHub, so I try on the TV to go through the TV browser to download from Netflix.com the App. The browser forwards the connection, and a Unotelly screen appears, saying my IP address needs updating.

I presume the problem is now caused by my account having expired with Unotelly.

Does the Roku 3 allow you to set the DNS in its device? From what I see from the Roku 2 it only connects to the Router and use the DNS settings that are set in it.

I presume for my set the only way I can get this to work (to access Netflix on my TV) is to use a DNS service like Unotelly? But I would like to confirm it is possible before signing up...i.e. get it to work?

By having this route in my Router will this cause any performance issues when I want to go to any Internet connection, i.e. will it go off to the Unotelly DNS server everything it needs to check a DNS entry?

Cheers
Peter

Log into your router from your browser and navigate to Broadband Connection -> Internet -> View More to view the DNS entries and ensure they are as you need.

Sign up for unblock-us and try their DNS servers.  They offer a free 7 day trial.

No you can't set DNS in the Roku 3.

As per above, try unblock us and see if that helps.  I'm on Telecom VDSL and Netflix streaming to my Roku 3 works around 50% of the time.  The rest of teh time it streams ok for 30 seconds, then buffers, then streams for 30 seconds then says unable to play media at this time.

Frustrating!

I haven't experienced any performance or general internet problems having the DNS set at the router like this.  My only problem is I can't get Netflix to stream consistently.

This is exactly what's happening on my PS4. A real pain. But going through a browser on my media PC connected to my TV no issues at all. Plays in HD and never buffers.

I'm using unblock us as well.

This morning I switched to an ATV3 (from my Roku 3) using unblock-us and so far it's been working flawlessly.  Getting HD streams and no drop outs.  It could be the time of day so I'll do some more tests during peak times tonight or it could be that the ATV is better at handling low throughput.

The Netflix interface on the Roku is much nicer than on the ATV3 but the ATV3 works so I guess that wins.

I have the UA50F6300 and have Netflix working perfectly with Unotelly. No buffering and I have a very average ISP service (7-14 mbps) My router DNS has been left with Vodafone's DNS, so I have used Unotelly's Dynamo DNS numbers in my TV's DNS only. In your Unotelly dynamo DNS settings make sure the Netflix option is set to UK, make sure Samsung SmartHUb is set to UK, make sure Channel Option 1 is NOT set to UK, and Channel Option 2 is NOT set to UK. I use the US selection for these 2. When I changed to UK for these last two settings Netflix stopped working. This part is critical to success! Initially I could not change the region of the Samsung Appstore to UK. Nothing would happen when I keyed in the sequence on the remote to change the region setting. I had to do a Samsung software update first, then the follow this sequence. http://support.unblock-us.com/customer/portal/articles/1138038-samsung-f-series-smart-tv-2013- Also explained here

http://www.eyeondemand.com/2013/06/21/how-to-changing-your-samsung-f-series-tvblu-ray-country-app-store/ So if you do all of the above correctly, it should work perfectly. Good luck, Tim

I not sure this is correct or not but been told to plug a USB drive e.g. an empty 4GB pen drive into one of the USB connections on the TV, so it can use this as a "work space area" when buffering.....i.e. to improve performance, I am not sure how it knows to use this drive empty space for this purpose..or if this idea is incorrect

So I finally got Netflix to work on the Roku 2 device then via the TV, by typing a URL into the Browser App....

my next challenge is to get the Netflix App to permamently appear in my list of Apps, but still retain apps live NZ TV on demand still working. Any thoughts on this Gem
