Hmm. Personally I wouldn't be game to base my opinions on anecdotes from a thirteen-year-old medical journal.

An anecdote?  ROFL.

But you'd accept urban myth as fact.

You'd bet your but on that?

My but?

"But you'd accept urban myth as fact. "

Well, that's what you typed at 16:19.

Seems to me you meant, "Bet you'd accept urban myth as fact."

No?

Anyway, back to foreskin's lament. My point is that the foreskin is an evolutionary hangover that's had no purpose since male hominids began wearing clothes.

Not only does the foreskin have no purpose, it's a liability.

But let's hear from guys out there who have been circumcised.

Hands up those helmets who think they'd rather be an anteater.

I say 'think' because there's no way any guy could know what it feels like unless they've had one.

No - I meant that you do accept urban myth as fact.  A bet on that wouldn't be fair.

I work with a gentleman who was so livid with his parents for mutilating him at birth without his consent that he went through a procedure to re-gain his foreskin. From what I gather, it involves stretching the skin around the penis until it is long enough to then stretch over the end. He freely admits that it was quite an arduous procedure but says it was absolutely worth it.

Do you have a source to back that up?

Here is an interesting article about circumcision from Christiane Northrup, MD

We Need To Stop Circumcision

Some quotes:

"Believe it or not, circumcision was introduced in English-speaking countries in the late 1800s to control or prevent masturbation, similar to the way that female circumcision—the removal of the clitoris and labia—was promoted and continues to be advocated in some Muslim and African countries to control women’s sexuality."

"From the 1980s through today, as the tide has been turning against male circumcision, misleading medical information has begun to surface (yet again) in support of circumcision. This information supports the belief that men with foreskins are more likely to get viral or bacterial infections and pass them on; that the foreskin is tender and thin, and therefore more prone to tiny cuts through which germs can be transmitted. New justifications, such as circumcision to prevent penile and cervical cancer, too often receive the blessing of the medical establishment. But these are justifications that science has been unable to support. Nor is there any scientific proof that circumcision prevents sexually transmitted diseases. "

“The United States has high rates of HIV and the highest rate of circumcision in the West. The “experiment” of using circumcision to stem HIV infection has been running here for decades. It has failed miserably. Why do countries such as New Zealand, where they abandoned infant circumcision 50 years ago, or European countries, where circumcision is rare, have such low rates of HIV?”

What a load of piffle and it is a 2010/2011 article. That doctor needs to go back to med school and learn about sciences new understanding of the "cells of langerhans" and sciences new understanding on how virus's and bacterium use vectors and invade the body then multiply and spread.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

Yes but ... condoms.  However much circumcision cuts down the risk of infectious disease, it's nowhere near as good as condoms, which also minimise the risk of conception.

As to hygiene if it retracts normally it's simple enough to wash under there every day in the shower.  Problem solved.

Agree - A condom foreworn is a male forearmed (to paraphrase)

Some quite vigorous opinions here.

None so far (other than anecdotal) from 'helmet' males who lament the loss of their foreskin.

While I've had PMs from fellow Balanitis sufferers about their inability to find a lasting cure.

To those unfortunates I'll say, 'Good luck, message me if you want to share your experiences'.

Good lord.  What a battle - the hooded brethren vs the mutilated members.

I've never read a forum with my knuckles in my mouth with angst until I came across this thread.

Perhaps this could be the basis for the plot for Sausage Party II?

have you seen his member?

sorry, i'm finding this hard to believe. if he never had it (circumcised at birth), how could he possibly have missed the hood or know it was/would be better if it wasn't removed?

i'm also finding it hard to believe he can simply stretch the skin to cover the helmet. that's just impossible to do, looking at my own disco stick. i suppose size matters?

While I haven't had as close a look as perhaps his wife, yes. It certainty looked like an un-modified member.

Google "reclaim foreskin" (perhaps not on a work device , unless they have a great health plan!) You'll find a significant amount of articles about it, many talking about the emotional issues men can have around having a piece of their anatomy butchered at birth, and the feeling of "wholeness" around getting it back, even if the reclaimed piece isn't as sensitive etc as the original.
