I have used a Schick Quattro shaver for a few years - seems basically ok, but I recently saw some King of Shaves Menthol shaving gel on special. Its in a black spray can.

Wasnt expecting all that much difference compared to the Nivea/Gillette/Schick products I have used before - but it seems to make the shave smoother somehow. Was quite surprised. Gives a nice little tingle on the face!

Not personally keen on shaving in the shower - but its supposed to be the best way to do it - it apparently loosens up the bristles and softens the hair so supposed to give an easier shave.

Yes, but....I think it's what you get used to.
I used to travel a lot, at home I'd use a 5 blader but in my travel bag I had a 2 blade kit because thats the way it worked out. First few days of the 2blade kit it all seemed a bit rough (and was a more uncomfortable experience), but that seemed to disappear within a week. Certainly from a user perspective it didn't seem to make a difference 2 weeks down the track. Coming home 4-6 weeks later who would know?? But going back to a 5 blade shave was never a chore. Maybe more blades just hold their edge longer?????

5 blades on a razor? WHy on earth would you want to ruin your face by doing that? Using more than one blade is horribly bad for your skin.

Best thing you can do is wet shaving. Especially if you have sensitive skin.

Now, yes the razor is expensive. But the blades are $10 for 10. I bought my first pack in October LAST YEAR. I have 6 left. As opposed to a 4 pack of gilletes which are $24 and last a month. Do the math.

Greatest way you can shave. Much better for the skin.

I get 2 to 3 weeks or more sometimes from a single razer blade, not sure what you are shaving to only get 1 week :) I have pretty sensitive skin and I have no issues with a 5 blade razer.

I thought I would let you know that my wife is now a big fan, it's 7:15pm and I still feel very smooth according to her, so another in the plus column.

I have corse facial hair. Insanely sensitive skin. To the point where I was looking at getting laser hair removal on my face to avoid shaving. Now, I don't have to. Shaving has actually become something of a hobby.

i've been using the king of shaves azor razor lately. its a bit different to the gillette mach 3 that i normally use, but seems to work well once you get used to it, and the blades are cheaper and lasting well.

as for oil/gel... i've tried them all. the best i have found is the nivia sensitive shave gel: http://www.nivea.co.uk/products/mens-care/sensitive/Sensitive-Shaving-Gel

shower shaving is also best, imo, but more expensive with the hot water usage :)

Had face fungus since beard growing comp in second year at Uni (1976 I hate to say). Tried it off for a couple of days in 1982 when working in Sth Afriica (hot!!) but shaving was far too much trouble!! Much easier than having to worry about soap vs foam vs creme or one blade vs 3 vs 5 or shower vs somewhere else!!

I remember my Grandfathers using these razors... and Norm Gunston (do you go thru much toilet paper??)

But I've still got a brush and shaving soap stick (occasional use) , now mainly use Gel.

I moved up to an waterproof battery powered rechargeable Philips. With battery meter.

At first I didn't know how it could be any good compared to a wet shave and it irritated my skin. After 3 weeks it was fine. 2 months down the track it's great :) I only go back to wet shaving if I'm travelling and forget my shaver.

Also has a sideburn attachment. I was also amazed that electric shavers these days give shaves as good as the blades. I know last time I tried an electric shaver(10 years ago) it just ripped half the hairs out and left me stubbly. The new one leaves me with a baby smooth face

I have moved across the ditch. Now residing in Melbourne as a VOIP/Video Technical Trainer/Engineer.

Gillete Mach 3, shower, soap. Only adds a short amount of time to the shower.

I've found I can get through a week on one blade set quite comfortably and can stretch it out to two weeks, but things are getting a bit rough by then. Might have a crack at redjet's suggestion.

Prob takes me around 8-10 minutes to shave, but then as I've said, I have no tolerance for prickles.
