Semi-related - when I took the car to an auto-electrician to get him to install the BT module/Band-expander into the OEM stereo, he mentioned that they do quite a few jobs where they hide the transponder in the car (for keyless entry/keyless start) and put a really good alarm/keyless entry/immobiliser system into the car - cheaper in a lot of cases than getting a replacement transponder key.

trig42, bit OT but when you mention BT Module, what are you referring to? Did the OEM radio have a BT Module that wasn't compatible in NZ or where you installing a new BT Module to get BT capability?

No, I have a 2007 Mazda3 (Axela), I bought this: http://www.gtacarkits.com/product/mazda-3-2004-2008-iphone-aux-kit/
They seem to do kits for a few cars/years. This one plugs into the external CD changer port on the back of the OEM stereo (which is a Bose unit, but I think it works the same on the non-Bose too). It works well - came with Microphone. Only two issues I have with it - 1. Phone doesn't always connect back up (have to flick into flight mode, or turn BT off then back on, easy to do from lock screen on iPhone), and 2. (to be expected, and not really a biggie) no track info displayed on stereo.
Calls seem to work perfectly, music plays fine and the Steering Wheel controls change track etc.
