While there is a lot of confusing marketing around it, most mid-to-high range are capable of hitting over 100hz natively. But unless you are pairing it with hardware that actually drives more than 60hz, there is no real use for it.

I want to like TCL, but as others have said their software and support in general seems to be pretty lackluster. And since we can't even get the good budget models that the US has, its hard to find reviews and accurate specs. Samsung at least being a bigger and well-established brand have that going for them, and they make a sh!t-ton of panels as well.

Unfortunately at this end of the price range, you're not gonna have a lot of choice. Most will be cheap 60hz edge-lit panels. Believe what your eyes see, so if you liked the Samsung better in store, then go that way.

Personally if you are not in dire need to replace it, I'd wait a month or two until Labour Day or Black Friday specials in October/November respectively. Most of the TV pricing is ho-hum at the moment, so if you can wait until then, and even bring your budget up to $1500, you will walk away with a much better TV for your hard-earned dollars.
