RustyGonad:whereisglenn:RustyGonad: There's a new version of Acamd 0.6.0.3 with internal card reader support (ie you dont need NewCS). Be interesting if it makes any difference to those of you with the Infinity readers. I'm running it with the Jaycar reader.
It works very well with DVBViewer, decodes faster than anything I've seen so far.
Currently running it with the new DVBLink (new version DVBSBridge). Channel changes between Freeview and Sky are about the same ie its fast.
Thanks for the update. What settings are you using to get the cardreader working through Acamd? I've set the BoxID in the smartcard.ini and disabled the newcamd in cardclient.ini but still no luck. I'm tinkering around with a few settings but it's probably something simple I've overlooked. I've set the com port so nothing that stupid...
So I had it all working, on my motherboard serial port using the default setting ie nothing changed from the download. I just dropped the files into the DVBViewer plugins folder, turned on serial port 1 and away it went...
Then along came the new Sunix card, which I dropped into the PC, changed the reader over to this to check it was working and... Nothing... Hours later including a rebuild, Sunix in Sunix out still nothing... Tried everything but I couldn't get it to work again... Almost went postal....
Read pages of stuff online, ended up pulling my card out about 1mm, which made NewCS work, so I gave up and got that working instread (which I needed to anyway for multi tuner). I'm still miffed as to why it worked the first time and wouldn't go again...
Anyway got dual tuners working now so even though its still bugging me I'll stick with NewCS for now. No difference in the channel change speed between that and the native reader anyway.
I believe its something to do with the card initialisation, and the way I've built my Jaycar, which is very badly... I need to perform the cardswitch reverse mod (whatever the f*** that is) now anyway, so I'll see of that makes a difference. It certainly did the trick with NewCS.
Yea - wot he said...
The hardest bit I found is getting NewCS to work. I've been trying for months, only to find out that the biggest change for me was the card removal trick. Effectively the Jaycar reader kept telling NewCS that the card had been removed. By pulling the card out about 1mm, which reverses the out/in signal, which NewCS was then happy with. Theres a mod you can do to reverse the polarity of the switch, which I'll try out in the weekend.
I'll do some more testing in the next couple of days to confirm, however I have a feeling that I could have done it without the Sunix card, but its working now, so I aint touching it...
I'd also still like to get to the bottom of why Acamd worked standalone... and why it now won't.
Its a minefield of discovery, but once you get your head around it, its actually pretty simple.
Getting the guide from the stream will save a lot of time, mapping and merging channels.

Is that common to all jaycar readers and newcs? I've never had an issue with mine not reading, wonder if I made an error in the build (a happy error! :) )
whereisglenn: Just to muddy the waters some more for Mattv. The latest version of acamd (0.6.0.3) should be able to access the jaycar reader independently, although I couldn't get it going and Rusty hasn't had any luck in repeating his initial success. For me (and probably most others) there isn't any advantage since two seperate installs of dvbviewer/acamd can't access the card reader at the same time, but could access two readers and two cards on different coms.
Rusty - have you checked your acamd logs when vieing two channels through newCS? Did you notice that when both access the card at very similar intevals, latency creaps upwards of 500ms on one while the other remains 260ms. Fortunately the artifacts on screen are very minor - no loss in sound, and only a few squares of picture distortion - much less that what I had experienced in different setups with infinity reader and the evil SoftCSA.
Let me know if you figure out what's required to get acamd running standalone. Also when my system gets the final seal of approval, I'll have a spare jaycar, infinity reader and serial to usb cable to sell.
RustyGonad: Your working... You just need to adjust the cardclient.conf in Acamd with your IP address, the username/password and the provider id 096A.
