cbdkid: I just called Harvey Norman Botany Downs. The guy told me that its coming in on the 18th of August.

Thanks for the update man. I guess this date applies to all Harvey Norman stores nationwide.

Update:

I have just contacted Portables Plus and they confirmed the specs to me:

2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7700 Processor
800MHz Frontside Bus, 4Mb L2 Cache
2Gb (1Gb + 1Gb) DDR2 667MHz RAM
2x 160Gb 5400rpm SATA Hard Drives
HD DVD Burner (-R) with DVD-SuperMulti +-R DL
512Mb nVidia GeForce 8800M GS Graphics Card
17" Widescreen Display, WXGA+ (1440 x 900), with 1.3mp Webcam
Windows Vista Ultimate

Wait!!!

Update 2:

I just WENT TO Portables Plus and the specs above are correct EXCEPT...

Graphics card is a 512Mb nVidia GeForce 8700M Graphics card.

Hey, it is still the best multimedia / gaming notebook around and I don't mind it is not a 8800.

It is very large but the speakers are of high quality and it has 6 USB ports!

Did Portables Plus actually have the notebook in stock? If so, I wonder why its taking so long for Harvey Norman and the rest to get it...

Yes, they do have stock!

Edit 1:

Hmm, after having a look at it, it is VERY LARGE. Thinking whether I should get a high-end desktop for gaming
and a mid-ranged notebook instead.

Good points:
- it has feet - meaning there is a good 0.5cm elevation between the desk and the bottom of the notebook to keep the system from running hot
- very quiet
- of course, good graphics and processor

Bad points:
- it is very large HOWEVER it is not overly heavy for a 17" model
- yea, it is very large, haha.

I am not sure what you mean by that.  I mean it is larger than the standard 17" widescreen notebooks.

You mean its thicker aye? I have a P100 at the moment. 17" Toshiba, its 3cm thick.
I'm guessing the X200 will be a lot thicker because of the rubber feet and the extra hard drive.

Yes, definitely thicker.  I too have a P100 and it is fairly slim eh?

I guess they designers wanted to ensure there is enough space for air to flow through thus they went for a thicker casing and rubber feet.

I must reiterate again though - it isn't that much heavier.  In fact, it could be the same weight as the P100.

Yea but the P100 is already rather heavy and bulky to carry around, well for me anyway.
Do you have problems playing games on your P100? Like stuttering? This is the reason I'm getting the X200. Toshiba agreed to exchange my P100 for a X200 because I was getting stuttering playing games and DVDs. Unless your P100 came with XP installed, those ones don't seem to have the same issue.

I have the older version of P100 - darn Toshiba with their impossible to understand naming system!  Haha.  It runs XP Pro and the games fine.  However, it cannot play Flight Simulator X to its full capacity - as in, I cannot fly to NYC without the frame rates going down to single figures.

I am still considering whether to get a desktop instead and get a notebook of around $2500 which is more portable than my 17" P100.

The 8800M GS is the old name for the 8700M GT.  They're the same card.

I read about that too.  Is it true that the 8700M is an overclocked 8600M?  If so, do you think it is worth the price of the notebook?  $4300?
