Need to disconnect the internal wiring at the demarc, and try connecting the modem there.

The key detail here is that geek4ev3r can only connect using T1.413 and not G.Dmt. While initially ADSL1 supported both standards, ADSL2+ is G.dmt only. Not being able to connect with G.Dmt means you are stuck with T1.413 which in turn means you're limited to ADSL1 bandwidth only.

"EUBA-ADSL2-AM" doesn't tell you much other than the user is provisioned on EUBA (as opposed to BUBA or other legacy copper etc.) and the user is connected to an ISAM. ADSL2 means multi-profile support up to ADSL2+. AM is for standard noise as opposed to low noise.

I'm not exactly ruling out any CPE or subscriber side issues, but since 4 modems have already been tried, I would think it's time further investigation is done to determine the actual configuration on the port until perhaps a port refresh or port change is actioned.

Unless there is some certain pattern of interference that stops G.Dmt from working?

I managed to remove the cover from the termination box outside. The only thing I could see was the two incoming wires to the house had bare wire down by the crimp connector. Possible problem ?? I also fired up my old USRobotics router, reset to defaults and set it up. This showed in the adsl status that it is in fact connecting to the T1.413 mode.

Quick update and a couple of questions. I have re done the outside connections to eliminate that possibility. One thing I noticed is the cable used to reticulate the house is about 50% lighter in gauge than the main feed cable. Is this normal? I have read the various posts regarding installing a master splitter and see you can either put by demarcation point or inline before the fist jack. My outside box has not got room for the splitter so I was going to opt for the latter. My next question is, if I do this would it not be good practice to run a new piece of cable back to the demarcation box ?

Run a new cat5/6 cable to the demarc, bypassing all the existing wiring, then hang the splitter off the end of the that.

Thanks for confirmation. That was my line of thought as well. Could'nt see point of leaving existing cable in if that is the cause of my problems.

Before getting too involved in your wiring if it was me I'd take your modem somewhere else and see how it connected there. Alternatively find a modem known to work on another line and plug it in at your place.

Can you connect your modem to the demarc temporarily to see how it goes? That would bypass all your internal wiring to quickly rule that in or out as a problem.

It wont be easy but it's doable. Is it better to use alligator clips or can I just twist the wires together. I will not be able to look at it till later this week, but will keep you posted.

Have managed to find time to hook the modem to the demarcation point. It's now official that the house wiring is not the problem. Using the USRobotics router I was unable to connect with anything other than T1.413. The line attenuation improved from 5.0db to 3.0db, everything else stayed the same. Back to square one.
