I never said I wasn't a hypocrite. The reason for the sig is it's a source of amusement when I get asked about it.

I suspect his gear is the issue and not the line.it's not the job of the ISP to diagnose hardware issues with the customers gear.
If you can't figure it out get geeks on wheels or similar to come around. Which if anyone said that to me I would take it in a similar vein as someone throwing a Molotov cocktail at my house. I better sort my shizzle out. It's not the job of the ISP. Even less so with Bigpipe as they are BYO router. So they have even less control over the connection as they don't know if the router can do it or has been misconfigured.

Yes but in this case it is plainly not the gear, so it is the job of the ISP (read my post again and you will see why)

Using a NF4V. Can't seem to get over the 400/400 mark. Need to do some testing to see if the poor old NF4V is not up to the task.

Thanks, I was waiting for someone to test out the NF4V, As I have one on my BigPipe connection.

My FritzBox 7390 isn't up to it either (On another ISP). I get around 300/430. But still it's awesome that we can get these speeds.

Interestingly, I put my NF4V (latest firmware) on BigPipe Gigabit, and was able to get 950mb/s down and 480mb/s up, over a wired connection.

Are you running Wifi Access point on the NF4V? It's possible the CPU can't handle both.

Changed firmware to advanced tomato and enabled ctf, (is ctf the same as enabling hadrwarenat?).

Getting descent download speeds now. Would have liked to stay on netgear fw tho but ...meh lol.

I am running wifi off of the NF4V, all my testing has been wired tho.

I might try turning wifi off and re-test.

I am running this firmware: GURNV5.OT132A-8-NC.AU-R5B030.EN

Which I am pretty sure is the latest.

I grabbed all 100+GB of Star Citizen in about 4 minutes :)

@drdee not sure how you could manage that

the theoretical maximum to download 100GB on a 1Gbps connection is more than 14 minutes

about 7.1GB per minute theoretical speed.

Yep looks like Origin has much more throughput...so close to 100MBps

This was the best I got to Auckland Spark server, but a few minutes later I'm now getting around:

With some downloads last night I also noted it capped out at 450mbps (desktop via my Asus RT-AC87U), also I've pushed at gigabit fine over LAN in the past.

Had maintenance (at least I think it was meant to be this morning) by BigPipe, after the update speed can finally break 500mbit (no changes to anything on my side).

Also got about ~850 mbit to the iperf server BigPipe told me test against.

Combining multiple download streams the Asus router traffic monitor reports max usage.

I opened a support ticket a few weeks ago, whatever the issue was seems to now be fixed - so thanks BigPipe!

Hey team,

A potential customer here looking to switch over to you guys from MyRepublic. I am looking to go onto the Gigabit plan in Dunedin and wanted to know a few things:

Do you use CGNAT?
Do you allow port forwarding without having a static IP address?
What are the typical speeds for a user on gigatown?
Do you throttle/shape traffic or have any peak time slow downs?
Do you have open contracts as we are students renting?
Do you allow users to join without needing to get a router?
Are static IP's a one off charge or monthly?

I get my fiber on Tuesday but from what i saw answers below

1. Yes (see below)

2. No (cant have CGNAT and port forward)

3. seems to be hard limited seems people can get 930+

4. havn't seen mention or complaints

5. no contracts

6. you can bring your own (refer to 3 for speed limitations. needs to be adecent router to work at gigabit)

7. one off charge of $45.
