Hi,

IPv6 connectivity, or at least transit, isn't working.  Still getting the prefix, but test-ipv6.com is all bad news.

I'm naive, but believe the upstream communication is conducted over link-local addresses on the ether1-gateway interface.  I note the status of one is "failed."  Perhaps that's the problem. Any suggestions gratefully received.

After setting up a static host route via the working upstream router (...b204) I was able to ping ipv6.test-ipv6.com. (2001:470:1:18::119)
via fe80::e2ac:f1ff:fe88:b204%ether1-gateway successfully.

Unchecking "Add Default Route" removed the otherwise unmodifiable entry in "IPv6 Route List" and the static default route added manually was effective.

Sounds like you've got it sorted. If you're still having any trouble do let us know. :)

Thanks Caminham - I was just wondering what BigPipe's progress was on the:

"we’ve identified some IPv6 bugs with our modem that we’re working with the vendor to get sorted"

What the bugs were and whether there might be a release to ipv6 beta testers of updated firmware and config.

Looks like the firmware on the site now is the same one I downloaded in June. @IPv6pipe - any updates on the way??

Just to re-iterate, it's been rock solid on the current firmware once the above workarounds have been used configuring it.

There haven't been any changes on the HG659 firmware from a Bigpipe perspective at this stage, no. If that ever changes I'll be sure to update this thread.

To be fair, I've worked around it and the work-around is dependent on the upstream gateway not changing... which makes it a little more fragile than desirable.

Can you help me understand why the default route set by DHCPv6 points to a router that "failed?"

Hamish.

I lost IPv6 connectivity after my plan was upgraded to gigabit last week.

There's an email waiting for you. :)

I'm still waiting for a followup from your operations team. Looks like this has fallen through the cracks.

For the benefit of others, the e-mail suggested reverting to PPPoE, which failed as expected. Unless I have missed something, nobody has reported IPv6 on Bigpipe working with PPPoE and any version of pfSense/OPNsense.

Has anyone noticed that their iOS App store downloads are incredibly slow or do not download at all? The moment I disable IPv6, everything works fine.

Everything else IPv6 works fine - Geekzone, google, test sites, etc. Only appears to be any iOS app I download from the two test iPhones and iPad I have here. When on 3G/4G or anyone elses Internet connection it's fine also.

I've been on the beta since it's been offered, and have been quite happy with it. I had an issue with my connection this weekend, where the connection for my VDSL at the cabinet went bad (according to the Chorus tech), and had to be switched to a different port. I've gotten my connection back up and going, including my private IP, however my IPV6 disappeared. Do I need to have this re-provisioned on BigPipes end @IPv6pipe? Or will it just take a while to come back?

I've been without IPv6 since my UFB speed was changed in August - after seven years of having access through SixXS. Bigpipe reset IPv6 on my connection, without any change. At one point, someone appears to have pinged the link local address, as I saw some IPv6 activity just prior to receiving a reply from Bigpipe about the issue. That suggests the basic connectivity is there, but something has changed which prevents me getting a public subnet.

Right now, I seem to be stuck in an endless cycle of receiving and replying to automated messages telling me Bigpipe is again closing my ticket because there has been no comment from me - despite the fact that I am waiting on an update from them. There is no sign of the problem being fixed, and because I have to us IPoE, apparently zero interest in isolating and fixing the problem.

If you launch a beta on Geekzone, you should be welcoming feedback and using it to refine products and procedures, not just telling people it's not supported and doing nothing.

@Aaroona Thanks for letting us know. Has anyone else potentially had trouble with the Apple App store with IPv6?

@SirHumphreyAppleby Automated case closure emails shouldn't be happening unless we're waiting to hear back from you. I'll ensure our support team are reminded to keep an eye on this. Sorry about that.

As for troubles with IPoE: We do not officially support this connection method. We can enable it for testing purposes only. All of our systems are set up for PPPoE (or A on ADSL), and IPv6 is no different. I will enquire again with our network team about the situation with your line, and ensure any updates are sent to you from your support case.

Will I need to have IPV6 re-added to my line after the change of port over this weekend? Or should I keep rebooting my router in hopes it comes back eventually?

Sorry @Aaroona, working fine here. Confirmed IPv6 and just installed an update and one new App via the App Store.

Sorry @Aaroona, working fine here. Confirmed IPv6 and just installed an update and one new App via the App Store.

Thanks - things seemed to have settled and returned to normal - potentially a glitch in the matrix. I tried two different routers as well, so could only narrow down to ipv6 and the 'net.

Still a bit slower than normal, but waaaaaay better than it sitting "waiting" then downloading over my 4G when it disconnects from wifi :P
