Well, truth is... If you saw that employees of a third party can read your SMS, then why didn't you change back then?

sorry if i'm not contributing but surely everyone must be thinking

1) your employer sound like a paparazzi! (pushing the employer-employee relationship boundaries a bit??)
2) what kind of job needs working nude in front of a laptop on a hidden island?!

They needed the voicemail / account PIN to see the SMS messages..

Who said anything about changing back?

actually if the employer is that obsessed about you (wanting to tell 'all about your day' -ewww) your phone might be bugged with a third party software/firmware. i won't completely rule out that being impossible. (havent you watched enough movies to think it might be possible?)

I know they could probably hack into the camera on the lid of the laptop, because that was on the news last year. Because I often work in the nude or on a really bad hair day, I have stuck a sticky over it. I wouldn't want to scare them completly!!!

I can completely guarantee it. Both myself and my boss saw it.

No way it included the content they could see sms sent from and to time and date only. This is 100 percent wrong and why they could see the permium sms number coming in as its charged to the prepay account.

Please check your facts before postin

I have worked for Vodafone NZ 10 years in April and know that the billing and rating systems prepay or On account do not store / pull SMS data conent from the SMSCs or the SMSRs

I know what the NZ police have to go thru to get the content and your telling us a store sales person pulled this up.

I have sent you a PM with all my contact details this needs to be passed onto the correct team in Vodafone NZ ASAP

Just to reiterate what I said to Mauricio last night...

Some stores have the ability to see account information. That is, if you front up with your phone, some ID and know your PIN, they'll be able to look up your info for you.

This is to help get you on a plan that suits you.

Nobody gets to see the content of your TXT messages. We don't even decrypt them. There are hundreds of millions of TXTs a month going over the network. The sheer volume makes that a non-trivial task and we won't do it without a court order.

In this case I can only presume the store rep called up account details which would include any Premium TXTs received. From there he/she can see the number sent, look that number up to find out what kind of service it is (we have a list) and give you some info regarding the service offered.

At no time can someone in a store (or at head office) simply dial up your account info and wade through the content of your TXT messages.

Ok - I saw nude! (Sorry all)

1/ The employer sounds a bit creepy - perhaps it's well intentioned? Basically, I would consider having a personal mobile as well. Same with email - gmail/hotmail/others are free to setup and operate.

2/ She didn't mention that the job needs working nude - When I've had trouble sleeping and decided to finish some work late at work, I must admit I turn off the webcam as it's just not the sort of thing the other people I may end up talking to needs to see! Also hidden Island? Other island was mentioned ... North Island, South Island, Waiheke Isiand, Stewart Island ... all places that could be a different island to where the boss is.

Using my phone and laptop for personal use isn't the issue, because they say that's OK. But them knowing all about me, where I go on my own time etc, bothers me a lot. My car is already tracked so they even know when I stop for a pee when i'm out on the road.

You should be aware that if a phone is synced to a laptop and someone has access to the laptop either directly or via vpn then everything on the phone and laptop ( since the last sync ) is visable, I know that I have my Sony Ericcson setup to sync wirelessly to my laptop and all my txts are also sync'd.

Just thinking about what JAMMAN reckons he saw, possibly the store may have connected to the phone directly?

I use Myphoneexplorer on my PC to my SE phone and you can see all the texts etc I have sent on the screen.

Might explain it.

Depends on the handset- if it was a blackberry on BES, then i believe this is possible.
