Thunderchild: Seems to be working on most sites now but I know it's still not completely back to normal.

There's a game on Facebook that is Flash based and it still doesn't load correctly. Many images don't show or they load slower than a heard of turtles stampeding though peanut butter.

Well, mine hasn't been fixed; I just tried to make a post on a video I uploaded and it hasn't even gone through yet. It has been on and off the whole day, websites will load one minute then suddenly everything will stop working a few minutes later.

Hi SandyJ, Nope - still all ballsed up for a lot of people but I think they've just given up on venting.

I've got a case (as does everyone else I'm sure) logged at Telecom and it's gone to their Third-tier support and apparently also Alcatel/Lucent are getting involved for whatever reason. It's probably their gear that's at fault (The name rings a bell with the XT troubles a while back) Funny that.

They have confirmed to me that it's not a cache problem and that it's also not only international data that's effected. But since most of us kiwis are viewing international sites, that's where most of the problems look like they are coming from.

It's great that you're still watching and posting here because I'm sure I am not the only one who appreciates and enjoys your comments!

Regarding any sort of credit for the disruption, they told me they will look at this on a case-by-case basis ONLY AFTER the problem has been resolved. This makes sense to me of course.

I know this doesn't help your situation at all but it's all I know at this point.

This is what it looks like to me - and it'll be the 1-week anniversary tomorrow! Hooray.
I'm getting alerts and timeouts all the time. My once pretty graphs now are full of red warnings.

Yep that sounds like mine too. As I hit the button to reboot I was thinking to myself.. maybe this isnt a good idea. One day I will actually listen to that little voice. sighs...

Now we are cooking with gas. You have inside knowledge by the looks of it. I like. :)

Please bear in mind Im not a geek and half the time I have no idea what your talking about.. (I turn on my computer and expect it to go) and I know that frustrates you tech heads. lol

Ahh.. XT. Didnt they do something special with that last Wednesday night? Hmmm.. and when did our problems start? But Im sure the head honchos are doing their best to fix it.........

Case by case? You mean only the people that complain? :D

I'll survive.. I have a good boss and the laptop. In saying that, Im losing time hand over fist here and Im having to prioritize.

Truth is I wouldnt know what to do with that alert if it jumped up and bit me, the only ones I know are Breaking news alerts and I cant do a damn thing about them right now. Praise be to Vodafone and passing them a beer.

Its past the witching hour and this pumpkin is signing off. See you tomorrow. :)

It is pretty annoying - I can handle say a day out of outage but where we are sitting on almost 3 days and nothing has been done yet.

I wouldn't say nothing has been done because, behind the scenes I bet there's loads of people (just as frustrated as we are) at Telecom trying to fix the problem. So I reckon it's not that nothing is being done - it's just that we cannot see any improvement for the things that they are doing.

Then again, since these big companies are rather quiet about the problem, the number of people who are working on it, how many hours they are doing trying to fix it, what equipment is at fault or what the problem actually is, then who knows? Perhaps there's a single chimp bashing away on an electric typewriter?

Nah just spent many hours on the blower with a friendly and compassionate tone in my voice you'd be surprised how much information people can give out when you're nice to them

This doesn't frustrate me at all. I believe exactly as you do! I mean, this is 2010 (almost 2011) and in my opinion everything tech-related should "Just work" I mean, this is officially "The Future" as far as I'm concerned. I remember reading books as a kid predicting that in the year 2000, we'd have robots cleaning our houses, we'd all drive hover cars and our houses would look like planets-on-sticks high up in the clouds. Instead, the future looks nothing like that. Though we do have these funny robot-vacuum cleaners so I suppose we're part-way there.

Case by case? You mean only the people that complain? :D

That's exactly what I mean. Squeaky wheel gets the oil and all that junk.

When i am asking for things like URL etc its because i really need that info to do some fault analysis.

Paul, add to your list to consider, the DIA eBGP/BGP filtering @ MDR and Glenfield. Both gateways run in synchronised but physical diversity (MDR learns from Glenfield)

Sorry for going quite here guys, I was involved mainly with the Cache farm part and some interesting traffic i noticed but is unrelated by the looks.
I have been passing on IP details etc as the come to me though.

There certainly are many people working on the issue, its not being ignored and is very obscure.

For the astute of you there certainly is more than one issue at play here.

Very sorry this is still impacting some of you.

Thanks for that bit of info Paul. Just the little bit of communication (even if it's no longer your area, that is, not cache stuff) To have someone of authority just quickly pop in with an update will keep people from getting too upset.

If it helps, I can provide you with information of the servers that i'm monitoring, the networks they are on Telecom, vodafone, xnet, TelstraClear. The IP addresses and also the locations etc which we are having packet loss to and from. Interestingly, for some of these routes it's not bad at all and for some others it's terrible.

Just sing out - there are people around with information that are willing to help get this sorted.

Morning all..
kawaii:
It is pretty annoying - I can handle say a day out of outage but where we are sitting on almost 3 days and nothing has been done yet.

I am happy to report mine is vastly improved this morning. Not back to normal but much better. And for me its been 7 days now. I spent a whole day working on my computer cleaning it (thinking it was me) before I reported it last Saturday.

Mr nice guy huh? lol .. I get impatient and just say 'tell me the facts and I'll deal it it' (PC I'm not) :)
Your right..we are way behind the predictions for the future. Im waiting for a Teleporter .. although Im hoping our Teleco's arent going to be responsible for running them.. Lord knows where (or what) we will end up as given the current worldwide internet problems.

As mwalford said.. thanks for the update. I know this must be a major headache for you guys with whats happening out there. The whole internet is a mess right now thatnks to the idiots doing the attacks. You arent the only ones with issues. I work in international news and I see all the sites going down. Comcast has had 2 'outs' in a week, then there is the social sites, banks and as of 30 mins ago PayPal has totally crashed. News rooms are increasing security and thats causing issues, and you mentioned 'interesting traffic' .. as long as mine isnt being used for a DOS Im happy. Thats a fear I always have. I visit a lot of media outlets daily and I worry I will pick up something. But my trusty MAC has kept me safe until now. (I think)
