That was a hellish 8 days but I want to thank the Techs for finally fixing the problem. It must suck being put under this sort of pressure, so kudo's to cbrpilot and ptinson.

Hope everyone elses issues are fixed soon too. I'll cruise by occasionally and post, who knows, one day I may make genuine geek status. :D

What do you mean "one day" SandyJ? Looks like you're an official geek to me. Wink

Anyway, I also want to thank Paul and Dave for their help with this. They did mention they may not have been directly involved with each and every problem (as there were more than one issue at play) but the fact that they've been here, posting updates, gathering information to help fix the problem and calming peoples nerves (as most of us have been on tender-hooks) has been invaluable!

SandyJ your presence here too has been awesome. A great touch of humour does wonders for people's sanity so thank you too!

Oh, getting back to the ACTUAL matter, big-woop! (not being sarcastic either) I can confirm no packet-loss for me either since 4:53pm yesterday. For the first time in many days I awake to an inbox that DOESN'T have 88 or so email alerts. Looks like it's shaping up to be a great weekend. Do I clean the garage or go for a bike-ride?

Better fess up I guess .. among other things, Im also a site manager/admin in a predominantly male forum. (girls cant handle their pace) so Im used to throwing in a sassy remark or 2.

iamaelephant: I guess I'm the only one still having problems Undecided

No!  I have had broadband issues since Friday evening (possibly earlier as I was at work all day), and as of this morning they are still haunting me.  This includes:

- modem frequently losing ADSL connection
- when connected, sometimes syncing at ridiculously slow rates (1/20 of normal)
- international sites not loading, partially loading, no images loading

I have a TIVO, and my usage metering kicked back in on Thursday - prior to this I had experienced none of these issues which I find very odd!

I second that, I contacted Telecom on Saturday, passed along some information but it appears that here we are almost a week and nothing has been done.

Contacting the Telecommunications Ombudsman at this point is very tempting.

Disconnection issues are an individual fault.  I would suggest you log a fault.

The usage meter kicking in is in no way related to your line fault.

May be not related by all of my XT 3G sims are running at very slow speeds.
Especially for international sites.

I've just been rung up this morning by Telecom regarding 'upgrades in my area' but the problem still persists.

In my usual passive aggressive way I thanked them for their attempts to fix the problem but I've decided to move to TelstaClear (cable service). When Telecom considers 'problem fixed' and 'only impacts a small number of customers' as some Telecom person here claimed yet YouTube fails to fully load - all it tells me is how much there is an RDF operating over at the big messy asterix these days.

Mine seems to be fixed as of this morning. Were they performing upgrades? Because I'm getting better speeds than ever, by quite a margin. now.

It would be nice nice if the speed actually corresponded to websites actually loading. The fact that a major website YouTube doesn't even load fully tells me it is more smoke and mirrors than real fixes that addresses the issues being faced.
