For what it's worth I've had no problems the entire time, so it does seem to be isolated to only some people.

I don't lose connection, but it times out a lot or lags badly. It's done it since I moved into this house on 9th November.

Stats from modem:

Up Stream  796 (Kbps.)

Down Stream 16370 (Kbps.)

Noise Margin 13 dB / 11 dB

Attenuation 3 dB / 1 dB

HEC Error  11

CRC Error 10

Where abouts are you located?

With that number of errors I'd investigate getting interleaving turned on.

I'd follow up getting interleaving turned on - I had the same issue when I lived in Christchurch but it was resolved by turning it on.

Chuckle - well done for owning up to the stuffup :-)

Cheers - N

ps. Out of interest, what ISP was on the other, "useless" network?

That was Telecom too, but it had hit its monthly data cap.

Auckland, Mt Roskill / Lynfield area... we're connected to the blockhouse bay exchange though (bring on cabinetisation due early next year for our area).

Not sure if this is something to do with the main topic, but I've had a terrible connection lately.

I'm over the data cap for the month, which slows us down to Dialup speed apparently (Telecom Network), which is fine, normally that's at least able to load most webpages. However, over the last few days I've been able to load some NZ-hosted webpages relatively easily (like this place, for instance), but a lot of international pages either partially load, load at what seems like old 26kbps modem speeds, or just refuse to load at all, and hang in the middle of loading. Yet to confound this even more, I can every so often actually connect to (and play) Battlefield Bad Company 2 through Steam, with periods of no major issues apart from moderate packet loss, and my ping from the servers I play is still around normal (50-80).
If it was simply a matter of being slowed down because of being over teh datacap, I wouldn't expect all these random inconsistencies.

Anyone got any ideas on this?
