Hi Broadcom are the chipset supplier that provide a number of modem suppliers with solutions. They also supply Telecom with there DSLAM solution. If you match the CO (central office/exchange) with the CPE (customer premise equipment) then you get an optimum solution.
With ADSL the same applies this has been found many times. If you want a suitable solution I recommend TPLink.
Hi, I take it you have used the online chat with Linksys and supplied the modem serial number..
I purchaced a new one WAG160n from Dicksmith and had issues with it, chatted to the help line and they informed me that my modem support warranty had run out in June 2010, I brought this on the 26/12/10 they told it it was at least 2 year old !!!
I returned to DSE and went to Harvey Norman and brought a WAG320N
First up have you upgraded the firmware ?
Also check your MTU and if it is on Auto set it to Manual 1460 and try it there ..
Slightly off my own topic, but in relation to changing routers, has anyone had any experience with a Belking Home Base? They seem to offer a complete solution, but I am wary as i often find complete solutions are more trouble! Still sitting at 5.5 Mbps down and 0.74 Mbps up.....
