This thread is really getting messy! Let's get things clear....
May I suggest, that you state the following points more clearly...
#1: "I don't get coverage" = Do you mean 3G only coverage, or do you mean no coverage of a mobile signal (3G/2G) at all???
#2: "3G network problems thru vodafone live" = Do you mean Vodafone Live (using the 3G network) doesn't work, or do you mean no 3G signal / 2G signal at all???
It's important to get all this clear, since it'll help in eliminating and ultimately identifying the problem!
Perhaps this would be a good process to follow:
a) Use 2 phones and repeat the process, and try with each sim card seperately. b) First, "restrict" the phone to 2G access only (900/1800Mhz ~2G). Signal or not? c) Second, "restrict" the phone to 3G access only (2100Mhz ~3G). Signal or not?
yeah, i've always got 3G coverage, this wasn't the case before, but it's back on. that's for 2 SIMS, i think the 3rd one has been blocked as it keeps saying no service. i don't think it'll be of any use anymore and may as well throw it away.
i can make calls alright and the signal is at it's strongest. internet wise, when i've $0.00 pre-pay balance, i can't use the phone to surf the net. but with credit i can. but it's gone just like that if u use ur phone for surfing. i used to be able to surf on no credit but i guess that's where the story of vodafone having their billing system sorted out comes in to play. and if that bill of $1500 something ever comes in i'll be sure to send it straight to my friend =)
i think there are no problems left to be solved. one small thing though, this afternoon i was trying to get on the net with my phone, which still has $20+ pre pay credit on it, but i couldn't connect. 2 hrs or so later i could. maybe that has to do with vfone's upgrading of the network? and oh yeah, it's become quite slow too. my v6 maxx has 3.6 mpbs but i was surfing at only 20kbs where as before it was 40-50 kbs. i'm just gonna stick to broadband over the cable modem for now.
btw, vfone live does work on my p'lell imported v6 maxx i think, but it's tediously slow, i don't bother. i don't play games or anything on my phone anyway, so if i miss out on that i'm not too concerned.
Oh well, it's good anyhow that your problem is "resolved"...
But from what I gather, you seem to want to use your mobile, and surf on the net (hopefully on 3G)...
Well, your phone being connected to a 3G signal (and making voice calls on it), is a different thing to "connecting to Vodafone Live / the net".... From my own use, I have never had problems making calls, connecting to 3G, etc... But going online, or on Vodafone Live (whether on 3G or not) has always been problematic.
really? why is that do you think? not until a few days ago did i ever have trouble connecting to the net. the signal where i live is good, but not excellent, i usually gets speeds between 30-40kbs but i've heard that increaser the closes you are to a central business district.
i certainly don't wanna substitute phone surfing for the wire seeing data costs on vodafone are huge. but i'd like it as an emergency back up because sadly both telstra AND xtra regularly have internet problems.
