Maverick,
Still could not get a dial tone from my setup. I did set the port forwarding and static ip address setup but still could not get any dial tone and still have a 'can't connect to the server' message. So I set it back to DHCP mode. Let me know what next can I do. I am already tempted to reset the PAP2T as still can't see any Primary DNS and secondary DNS which is visible in your screen shot with 58:28:.. port prefix.

Try putting a static DNS entry in if you do not see an entry in the status page, you do not need to reset the PAP2T, just add the default gateway , Ie the IP address of your router and see how that goes.

Can you post a screenshot when the problem is occurring.

I just signed up to vfx, I've got it all up and running without doing anything :D it was a pre-configured box though, but I havnt had to do any port forward or anything, is this normal? we run a reasonably large network for a house with 10 or so computers.

Maverick will be asleep by now. He is a seriously early riser and will respond to you in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

In order to post a screen shot, you need to upload your images to the web somewhere -- maybe use Photobucket, or some personal web space at your ISP. Once the image is uploaded to the web, then use the Insert/Edit Image icon in the Geekzone editor to post a link to your image. Voila! It will appear as part of your post.

Yes, perfectly normal

That was my experience as well. I never needed to forward any ports, but I did follow Maverick's advice as follows:

- Use a Static IP
- Enter the Default Gateway Address on your LAN (usually your router's address)
- Enter the Primary and Secondary DNS server IP addresses provided by your ISP

Having done each of those, I saved the changes, then unplugged the power from my PAP2T, waited a few seconds and plugged it in again. After a minute or so, the PAP2T had downloaded a new config. file, the Line 1 LED lit up, and Dial Tone appeared

AFAIK, it will be most efficient if you use the DNS Server IPs provided by Xnet. Your own server's DNS will pass the address resolution requests along the chain towards Xnet's DNS anyway, so if you point those requests directly at Xnet's DNS, it will save a few extra hops. That's my understanding anyway...

Did you try turning the firewall off by the way ?, also what model Belkin do you have ?

Yes it should be , we have tried to malke it as painless as possible as you could imagine if Grandad or Grandma (and no disrespect to anyone over the age of 12 here

) had to go through this process, so we have tried to make it a plug and play type of system, occassionaly we get issues like this that generally 95% of the time will come down to router / firewall issues. This one is a little strange as it is looking like a firewall type issue as we do not see any VOIP traffic what soever but do see web traffic from the device.

I have seen the email, at this stage I have no answer for you, the device picks up its config and the config is fine btw, but the SIP packets are not getting passed to us, and what is strange is that you send a SIP packet and get a reply but it is not from us
I have your IP address and details and do not see any attempt from that IP at all, there is something in the way blocking this, thats why you see the can't connect to login server but whatecer is in the way is SIP as it received a SIP message but it wasn't from us.

Any chance you can try this Box on another connection, or Another router, if you were close to the CBD I would suggest you could have brought it in we would put it in our LAB as this is a bit perplexing, but I can't diagnoise the issue as I can't see any packets from you.
