That is caused by bandwidth congestion, not latency.  Even on a cable service, 150msec is pushing the boundaries on what can realistically be achieved.  The extra $10 will not pay for light to be sped up - as Ender mentioned.

As already said those are not bad times but more importantly latency to youtube is not a problem. If it is buffering for longer then normal then bandwidth is the problem.

I don't get Youtube buffering now that the network improvements have gone through and TVNZ OnDemand is usually the same.  I always found that TVNZ OnDemand was slower than Youtube - I'm guessing that's TCL's peering issue more than anything else.

Just thought I'd chime in..

The service is now back to what it was last year. Checking my router the ARP traffic has gone down from 90k/s to just under 0.2k/s. The modem light is no longer blinking like crazy! Also loving the TV improvements too. Good work TCL!

I'm in Island Bay for the record.

I wish I could be so positive.

I've been getting random disconnections over the last few days.  Some of them have lasted for 10-20 minutes, some have been just a few seconds.

Anyone else been having problems?

Still great for me, although my latency to the states is a bit high tonight.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Very odd -I wonder if it is just the Wainui node -it is definately not my router -the system comes back online when it is ready (no resets required)

Been running fine for me since last week when the latency shot thru the roof for one evening, so all
good. (touch wood)

I'm starting to wonder if my cable-modem may be faulty.

What is happening is the modem itself goes "off-line".  Resetting it (power down/up) does not help.  It just comes up when it is ready -which made me beleive the issue was with the network.

If this continues I may request I get a replacement..

Been a while now.

Just wanted to say that Telstra cable seems to be now very stable and worthy of the current advertising campaign. Well done.

I hope Telstra have learned something though on how to communicate with its customers.

I agree.  Things have been pretty stable for me as well.

And what I hope they learn is to not let their systems get into that sort of state in the first place.

Yep, I agree that everything is stable now. Smile

Hopefully something like this wont happen again but if it does that they actually
let us the users know what is going on and that they are working on it.
