nxc: Strange enough I'm using iPhone 3G at the moment.

What would you suggest me to do now?
Ring 777 to cancel VDF Family ? I don't want the other ppl in my family complaint about their bills at the end of the month.

Thanks much.

Are you on the iphone plan or just using a iphone 3G its not hardware related for the billing

I would've thought so, but Paul's implied it's got something to do with the handset too:

PaulBrislen: I'm talking about the iPhone 3G - are you using the 1st Gen model?

We cannot offer Family on the iPhone at this stage. Testing continues. When it's done we will be able to but for now, no, we can't offer Family to a customer using an iPhone.

Cheers

Paul

However, as I posted earlier - VF Family worked for a couple of days for me using an iPhone 3G on the iPhone 250 plan:

bsd: Interestingly on the iPhone 250 plan VF Family worked for the first couple of days (someone else in the group on Prepay could call/txt me no problem despite having no credit) after switching handset/plan.

A few days later I (and everyone else in the group) received an SMS saying that the number +6421abcdefg had been removed from the Vodafone Family group and normal call charges would now apply.

I'm on normal YouChoose.

@johnr: seemingly you are right. I haven't receive any sms about number +64 abcdefg dropping out of VF Family as @bsd. It's just working ... and now in the 3rd weeks.

Anyway VF rep hasn't contacted me yet. I'll you guys update on this matter.

It would appear from all of the posts and users experiences, that family will work with the Iphone if I was to purchase outright a iphone and put my you choose sim inside? Can anyone confirm?

Seems that family doesnt work with the iphone plans, so would assume that this is where the issue lies? How would vodafone know that my you choose sim is inside an Iphone?

Any update on whether normal You Choose SIM with Vodafone Family will continue to work if used in an iphone?

Also, I hear a rumor that on the 2nd of August, there will be new Iphone plans released?, can anyone substantiate (before I go off and re-sign my exisiting You choose contract for another 2 years)?

Got contacted by a Vodafone Rep today in regards to this matter (after a week of waiting, and a friendly reminder to Paul):

- There is NO problem at all to have Vodafone Family on YouChoose account. Vodafone Family is working with iPhone as long as you are NOT signing up to any of current iPhone plan.

- It's not hardware related constraint, it's an account issue, again when asked when VF Family available for iPhone plans, she quoted on Paul as "we are in testing phase, and really hope to roll out the service to iPhone plans as soon as possible"

Hopefully, this clear thing up. And ... I do look forward to those new iPhone plans and VF with iPhone plans.

Cheers,

Any updates on where this is at?

It's a bit annoying wasting my minutes/txt and forcing family members on PrePay to spend their credit when this worked for 2 or 3 days on the iPhone plan before mysteriously disappearing.

Weekly bump!

Any ETA on when this should be sorted?

The longer it takes the more I'm feeling a bit duped.

Another week, another bump.

Still seems to be silent on the Vodafone Family front.

I've posted in their forums too to no avail.

Does anyone else know anything.. or is anybody else waiting for this to be re-enabled?

Why? I'm sorry, but you were never given a timeframe for when the family addon would be available with the iPhone plans. If you signed up to the plan, you knew this (or should have) and signed up regardless.

I think it'll be another couple of months but if they get through testing any quicker you might be in luck.

From the Vodafone forum

" OK, this is the current situation.

The iPhone can NOT be added to a Family group UNLESS you purchases an iPhone on a You Choose plan and add a 200MB or 1GB 24month data plan on top. Then you can.

For most users, sorry but until we get the configuration right it simply won't work.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Paul Brislen"

Just because it worked initially then was removed.

Perhaps duped was unfair, but when it's Vodafone's intention to offer it on the iPhone plan (as has been indicated earlier), no right minded consumer should enjoy paying extra while they test it.

No, of course. They're charging you even though you don't have the service? Well I understand your dispute then. This should be easily rectified, what did the CSR tell you when you tried to remove it from your account?

Well, I think it's a stretch to say "I'm paying for something I'm not getting," but one account is paying $20/month for VF Family but until they sort the iPhone plans (I guess they're billing system) out so that they work on Vodafone Family, we've only got 3 numbers on the plan when we could have 4.

You could argue that if Vodafone Family supports 4 numbers @ $20/month then that's $5/phone so $5/month we're short up. Likewise, the extra charges/allocated credit consumed for calls/sms'ing between the Family group and the number which currently can't be subscribed obviously wouldn't accrue if the Family plan was sorted.

The expected response to this is that we signed up to the iPhone plan aware that it wouldn't work on Family (or at least didn't investigate the T&Cs to establish it didn't) and I agree to the extent that I'm not accusing VF of stealing from me. It's just that when Vodafone intends to add the iPhone plans to Vodafone Family and is, as far as I can tell, constrained simply by the fact they "can't get it right," as a consumer I'm not elated in handing over cash.

Paul Brislen has indicated at the VF forums that he's keen to see it fixed so hopefully the wait won't be too long.
