speedtest.net. to Vodafone server.
From a machine wired directly into the system router which in turn is wired directly to the cable modem.
This returned about 900mbs consistently after we went over to Max. Only noticed the drop in speed when I was investigating the instability recently.
I still haven't had any dropouts since VF Ninja reset cable modem.
As for speed, I'm only getting around 600ish down and 90ish up on speedtest.net to the vodafone welly server.
Will continue to see how it goes.
920 down 100 up in stokes valley using fast.com using vfone HFC cable.
just had a couple dropouts within the last 30 minutes from 20:20 this evening.
The second dropout required a restart of the HFC modem.
I was watching youtube and the Mrs was using the VF TV box. This is very similar to what would cause dropouts last year.
Can't be bothered faffing again with support. Will look to change to Fibre at some point post lockdown.
Stay safe all.
You could still place your order now even though things are in lockdown, but it would get the process started.

Sweet. Thanks.
I'd suggest changing provider too, while you're at it.

hahaha thanks. been reading the various threads on here and Mr Murfy's Corner https://murfy.nz/2018/02/06/picking-the-right-isp/
I had quite a journey on this. Help came from a watching Vodafone tech (thank you Nick). In the process of testing I noticed that my connection's performance increased if I turned off IpV6 in my routers configuration (Ubiquiti AmpliFi HD). After that the frequency of dropouts declined noticeably.
We lived with that for a while but eventually even the dropout once every couple of days became frustrating.
In a flash of inspiration I figured that the Vodafone supplied Ultra Hub is a known quantity for Vodafone, their network must work with that right?
I dug ours out, flashed the firmware up to current, turned off the Wi-Fi in it, and installed it as a wired router between the cable modem and base AmpliFi HD unit. I switched that over to bridged mode to serve the mesh network (3 other AmpliFi HD units).
It worked great for a few hours then another drop out. Oops... better try turning off IpV6 in that too. I did that and bingo. We have a rock solid connection without dropouts.
Not sure what to read into the IpV6 thing though...

GazzaGazza: Yes it's a workaround, but it seems to expose a compatibility issue between the Ubiquiti Amplifi router and the Vodafone HFC network, and perhaps an Ipv6 anomaly as well. Turn Ipv6 off on yours and see if it behaves as it should. Mine gave different speedtest results with that on or off on Vodafone Wellington's speedtest server.
Ah weird. I did try with IPv6 off and on and it didn't seem to make a difference for me. but that was with Vodafone hardware (UltraHub). I'm on Voyager now. I know that's not really a fix either, but I just found it too frustrating to deal with the VF service desk. To be fair, my connection was very stable the last few weeks with good speeds. But I'm getting too old and grumpy to put up with their shenanigans if I ever need to contact the service desk again. Time to give someone else our money for a while.
How's the Amplifi? I should probably look for another thread regarding that. haha.
Ours is rock solid since I made the changes I noted. The Amplifi is a very good mesh network. I only used the HD base units as I wanted Ethernet connections in some of the locations. We have 3 in our house.
