Send me a PM if you want some help.

Where in NZ are you located? Have you actually contacted WxC about these issues?

We are looking at this issue as we saw it happen this morning, it is something that is unique to Asterisk by the looks of it and the way it handles certain messages, any type of timer issue appears to put your Trunk registartion into sleep mode and it will not retry, untill you do a restart of services.

We will take a look and see what we find

Just an update on this, we have identifed an issue that is occuring that is causing this issue with Astersik users, I can say Asterisk is doing the right thing and we have a bug logged with our equipment providers so will advise when we can get this sorted.

However there may be some occurances of the issue you see untill we get if fixed, apolagies for this.

Is this the random timeout issue that has been occuring for some time or something specific to zimbonz?

For a while I am guessing Steve, I picked up this issue when I saw it here and have traced it down to an issue we see with Asterisk so at this point I would be assume it may have been there for a while, it is random and actually occours when swapping between 2 of our network devices in a redundant cluster and will only occur during a 4 or 7 second period.

Have a bug logged for this and had a phone conversation with our equipment providers yesterday over this and and hopefull to get something reasonably quicky.

This is the response I got from WXC. We have been having this problem for months where every few days it would go down. Logged multiple tickets with WXC that never got replied to so I finally called up the other day and got this email a few days later:

Hello Jonathan,

This issue is something we have identified on the Asterisk platform with our vendor, unfortunately they have yet to provide a fix that will correct it at this time. They are however working on this problem and we expect a resolution but as yet have no ETA.

Regards,

Cool.. Good to see you have it sorted.

I've only had it happen on a few occasions myself but wrote a blog post with a cron job to force a SIP reload.

Anybody who is encountering this issue on a regular basis could follow my post here and possibly change this to a shorter time if they feel the need (by default a reregistration occurs every 3 mins) which will minimise the downtime if this issue does occur.

Thanks for the post sbiddle, I have implemented your cron job, so that has certainly eased the situation somewhat.

Good to know the situation is being worked on.

Cheers

Whose the vendor?

I'm surprised that they themselves haven't released a patch for this rather than WXC alerting them. I was under the impression asterisk is a widely implemented platform??...

Will keep an eye on this, be interested if anyone had this issue this morning after 4.00am ... we believe we know what one of the root causes of this is and can mitigate it until we get a full fix
