For some reason I now seem to be losing the first keypress on the keyboard quite often. Usually the windows key but sometimes I will end up clicking in an addressbar and trying to go to liexpress.com or oogle.com

oogle.com

Heh, that sounds like a website for an entirely different type of entertainment.

The other keys thing seems to have been a rare occurance, but the windows key not opening the menu is happening almost every time on the first press. Not sure if its the razer bloatware or windows, dont really feel like troubleshooting it right now, I just have to check that it has opened the start menu before typing.

Are the OneDrive thombstones back in this release yet?

If you mean the placeholders then no. That is apparently to be a Redstone 3 (September) feature...

something to say about this coming shortly

It reenabled all my disabled audio devices, and a few other things in device manager I had disabled.

Lost monitor layout configuration but that seemed to come right on its own.

Broken exclusive mode playback for tidal - now just keeps telling me to choose 44.1Khz 16 bit for the device which is is actually set to.

Have an annoying defender shield in the tray with an x on it because firewall is disabled - no obvious way to get rid of that or disable the firewall warning.

its not supported to disable the Windows Firewall service, sure remove all the rules etc if you don't want them, but don't actually disable the Windows Service.

If windows didnt decide to keep going back to a public network just because I have changed some random small thing on the LAN then that wouldnt be a problem, but having the computer end up non remotable all the time because of the firewall going stupid means disabling it is the only real option to be sure I can get into the computer without having to lug a screen and keyboard over to it.

Hmm, I must've gotten lucky with the CE update (once I managed to make it install via the media creation tool on both machines)...

Have 2 'old' laptops running well:

- 1 with HD 4000 (driver 10.18.10.4425)

- 1 with HD 3000 (driver 9.17.10.4459) - this one is on the insider fast ring

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

you may want to read this blog to understand the downside of forcing the upgrade rather than waiting for Windows Update to offer it to you.

https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2017/04/25/windows-10-creators-update-rollout-first-phase-update

"Blocking availability of the update to devices we know will experience issues is a key aspect of our controlled rollout approach. We decide what to block based on user impact, and blocking issues are a high priority for us to address as quickly as possible. During the time it takes to address an issue, we want to limit the number of customers exposed to that issue. For example, our feedback process identified a Bluetooth accessory connectivity issue with PCs that use a specific series of Broadcom radios, ultimately resulting in devices not reconnecting as expected. Once identified, we posted this issue to our Windows community forum, provided user guidance on troubleshooting, and blocked additional devices with these specific Bluetooth radios from updating. Once a solution is available, we will update our forum post and remove the block.

It’s important to note that when customers use the Software Download Site to manually install the Creators Update they bypass many of these blocks. Therefore, we continue to recommend (unless you’re an advanced user who is prepared to work through some issues) that you wait until the Windows 10 Creators Update is automatically offered to you. When your device becomes eligible for the Creators Update rollout, you’ll be prompted to make some important choices on your privacy settings before the Creators Update can install."

keypress thing seems to be 2 things - unresponisve windows key is a massive issue, the missing typing one just seems to be it lagging on focusing on the field when I click it. Start button is also non responsive when clicked on so its not a keyboard issue. Second click and it comes right up.

Never before have I had so many out of memory warnings, things getting closed on me and programs having errors about memory. Pre creators update chrome with ~100-150 total tabs would freak out and close a few about once a week - now its several times a day, task manager still shows 5-8 gigs free, and about 4 on "standby" whatever that is.

Found the enterprise ISO in our VLSC this morning and so downloaded.

Installing as a fresh install without any customisation into a new VM to see what is what ...

Looking around I need to update my MDT to a new version in order to use my customisations

I am not happy. My calculator opens and closes straight away, my MS Store App is broken (black screen), my start menu won't open periodically without a restart of Windows Explorer. Yay for productivity.

Finally got time to add 1703 ISO to MDT to create a basic installation of W10 1703, which after a few issues was finally successful.

First task was to add copy some PS1 scripts I had created from my home drive to the VM (non domain joined) - run\connect to unc path and eventually a network box came up, looking rather small

https://imgur.com/6sN4IwF

The VM window is only 800x600, and after taking the screenshot I realized that the network box had scroll bars .. but .. why

Is the network box a fixed percentage of the screen resolution, or something else? (at 800x600, when the start menu is opened, it fills up the entire screen)

I'm getting the message that the Creators Update is ready and I need to review these settings (I didn't download the ISO or force the update).

How do I cancel this this update? This thread makes it looks like there too many issues I don't want to deal with at the moment.

Might just defer until the next update, end of year.

Take no notice of the posts on here, these are not a random sample -- most people have had absolutely no problems at all.
