So many things not to like about Windows. MS must be doing something right, though, because the stock price has shot up.

OMG I am so SICK of seeing that Dialog box. It's hard to believe these bugs aren't squashed. 

Starting Windows 8, I strongly feel I have no idea what MS is doing to my machine day to day. It's layers upon layers of smoke and mirrors. 

So many odd behaviours. Things are not transparent. Task Manager shows I have 6GB memory used but no way I can see where, even with other tools. Memory just disappears. Same with Processor. A parent process like Chrome will show it's using 30% CPU, but the total combined of all CPU may be only 15%.

There is so much going on behind the scenes I feel I don't have any control over my own computers. 

I think it's time for a simpler OS. One that does not have legacy support. One that runs latest applications only, no 32 bit support, no bloated support for things that aren't ever going to be used.

No, don't suggest Linux. That's not going to happen. Ever.

PDF's are a common one, but I've even had things like txt, eml, all sorts of things. Other super frustrating thing as an insider, is every new release and often every reboot, my default audio devices get messed up, so my HDMI monitor defaults to the audio device despite having no speakers. It's lots and lots of little things, death by a thousand papercuts. I used to have a lot more time to chase down stuff like this, but these days, I do expect basic functionality to remain untouched. My privacy settings also got changed recently too. That annoyed me a fair bit, but again, I don't have a huge amount of time to spend opening cases. I've mentioned in this thread a number of times that the feedback app only probably works every 2nd or 3rd insider build. The metro type apps are the bain of my existance, they are SO unreliable. I got sick of calculator not working, and reinstated the W7 one. 

In 2017, it should not be required.

I don't have anything I need in the Windows Store. I actually don't use any built-in Windows app and don't use the Window Store.

Linux is fun, you can spend days and days and days stitching together an 90's OS, get it right then change Distros and start all over again 

Note, I actually like messing with Linux, why does that sound like an AA opening remark

This little gem is a life saver. The Win 10 Calculator app was driving me insane with its behavior. I didn't think about trying to install Win 7 calculator.
Done it now. brilliant. 

I'm not sure which update did it, but I cant search in Outlook 2010 anymore.
