Finch: I feel like im missing out on something. Every year I go out to the sales. I have a good solid smartphone, good laptop, PS4. Everything I own is working. I still want to buy something though but don't know what :(

telecom xt is a 850MHz network. ..... 900 won't work on it esp in smaller towns under xt or city outskirts

I have deployed over 80 Telecom Nokia Lumia 520's and bought one last week personally to give as a Christmas gift to someone. I know the variants and have tested them on different network as we have staff members who live out in the country where there is no XT/Telecom coverage so we have to give them Vodafone connections.

The Telecom version of Nokia Lumia 520 supports 3G/UMTS 850MHz, 900MHz and 2100MHz

The Vodafone/2Degrees version of Nokia Lumia 520 only supports 3G/UMTS 900MHZ and 2100MHz

Telecom version is better.

Edit - Apologies folks. I checked the box of the Telecom version of the 520 and it says 850/1900/2100. I am going blind and misread the 1900 for 900.

So it's UMTS/3G 850, 1900 (pointless in NZ) and 2100 for the Telecom version.

Therefore rural Vodafone/2Degrees coverage will most likely be 2G only.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Skillie: Got the last PS3 for $149 at NL (Kapiti)!

My brother went to 3 NL's before he found one with stock (all before 9am), purchased 2 with the help of the old man (one for him one for me). Those were the last 2 at Riccarton and that was at 0855.

Didn't need a PS3 but for that price it'll make a good media device.

Got to Bayfair at about 9.00am. Looked around Nothing I wanted but a friend with us bought a Brother HL2130 printer at NL for $79 $20 0ff normal retail at other stores..

If the 2D store had been selling the Nexus 5 for $599 I may have been interested but they weren't..

Perhaps confused with HTC 8x??
The white one was fully compatible with all networks but only Telecom offered it.

anyone watched the news? HN loud ad said "42" Full HD LED from $398"... certainly not on the website cheapest was 598 ... anyone knows? very tempting!

oh I think the ad also said Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 wifi for high 400s ... insane if true!

I walked into noel leeming with a print out of the HN flyer showing the s3 at $386, the salesperson wasn't too sure if they could price match today but the manager came over and marked it down without any hassle. Also got a brother printer price matched to warehouse stationary.

That is very surprising. My local Noel lemmings refused to price match anything in the HN flyer, due to them saying that their terms allowed to get out of pricematching where stock is restricted to 1 per customer. They said that as the HN brochure said that items were restricted to 'one per customer' on the brochure, that was enough for them to get out of honouring their price match guarantee. Yet their terms said they can only get out of honouring it if it is 'limited stock', which implied to me that it was when they had only a few to sell and stock was very limited, which wasn't the case in terms of most g HN products. Noel Lemmings price promise is so vaguely written that they could get out of price matching anything if they didn't want to. Ironically 'The Warehouse 'price matched the goods for me without any problem, even though it is owned by the same parent company. They don't seem to have the damages of fine print. Wish these price matching schemes where more regulated by the commerce commission so they are more transparent, and they can't hide behind their fine print.
