You have nothing to worry about these 2 bits of software, no spyware or viruses and you can backup your registry before it does anything. I am a computer tech and have ran into a multitude of internet problems that have been cured by using winsock repair alone, and yes a problem that sounds very much like the one your having now. Give those programs a go im sure you wont be dissapointed.

No luck with the Winsock repair software, going to have to try reinstalling the network card...

Hi,

just finishing this thread off.

Garvani, thanks for the recommendation of regvac, tried this again last night and finally have connectivity back.  Still unsure what the actual cause of the problem was but I'm of the opinion torrents had something to do with it.
