If we cancel VDSL and there are no ports for ADSL, that means we lose our place in line if ADSL falls through... Could we try get connected to ADSL and if it works we cancel our order for VDSL?

Open service order is different than a service.
Open service order is a new connection, add voice mail,. Log a wiring order etc. You cant have more than one of those.

Order ADSL on the second pair? Keep VDSL order open? Or is that still classed as more than one open service order?

You have to understand that after a month or so of constant dicking around, being told one thing then another, no clear answer at all and even having someone turn up to the house to connect us to the internet then being told it won't happen. This entire situation is a huge risk for us. We can cancel the order and "maybe" get ADSL or wait a long time and be guaranteed a connection. Who knows how long the wait may be, if we get taken off the VDSL wait list, fail to get ADSL then get put back on... If we ring Vodafone what can we tell them to check? They insisted there is no ADSL available and Slingshot said the same too. How can many different people in both companies be so incompetent that they tell us we can't get ADSL when in fact we can?

You know something else that drives me mad, when you get told they will ring you back but they never do, then you have to call up and be given the run around all over again. Has happened quite a few times now. I'm thinking if I walk into the vodafone HQ and demand some answers it'll work out better?

My suggestion would be to hold off making a decision.
I'll chase this up tomorrow with the the chorus folk who have been active here (and others) to try and get some answers
1) certainty of ADSL availability
2) likely length of wait for VDSL.

Following that, I'll check to see if Chorus messed anything up here WRT service availability and waiter status, etc. but the main goal should be to get 1 and 2 above sorted.

More to follow....

Cheers,
Brent

No probs, there are a couple of options.
I've PM'd Tim for him to get hold of me.

Being Chorus, we must deal with the ISP, rather than direct with the customer - I trust Vodafone/Tim will be in touch once I have worked through the details with him.

Thanks,
Brent
