BrokenChameleon: well these are my line stats atm
and i worked it out with attenuation(6.3) devided by 13.81 which gives you the approximate length in Kms i understand that there are many more factors that can affect attenuation also

You can't compare adsl and vdsl attenuation.  And so using that attenuation result to estimate distance won't work too.

also 17a gives higher attenuation but faster speeds.

Regardless your line seems to be hitting thw download cap, and you have INP 1 on, and seemingly a 12db snr margin.  so if you had 9db snr margin and INP off your atatinable would probably go even higher. your snr would stay the same on down as you're capped, but you may be able to hit 50 megabit for upload.

it's curious that your download speed through your isp isn't a little higher though, although you are seemingly a distance from auckland, so maybe when the ping goes down your speeds will go up a little. (i'd estimate more like 94 megabit for including overheads)

just wondering if i could hit 94 easily after peak hours?
was interesting though when i rung orcon about my ping the technician seemed confused about my speeds i actually had to inform him of the change chorus were making hence my speed being that high kinda expected more from a technician of a major ISP but oh well lol

likely you were speaking to tier one, which unfortunately you do come across the occasional tech who isnt quite as knowledgeable as you would want.

worth making clear your syncing at 100016 down, Tweaking your line to try to get a higher upstream though! would love to see you hit the cap!

Just make a point of disconnecting your modem, do it all in one batch and then reconnecting it. This will simply stop DLM from picking up disconnections as "instability" rather than you improving the line.

to quote myself from earlier in this thread..

ikanos linecards are limited to 70000/30000 a step up from 70000/10360 on 997.

Broadcom linecards are limited to 100016/51200 a step up from 71680/10360 on 997.

I will await seeing your results!

Edit:

Although its not much, further reviewing your stats, no errors, even FECs or anything in 13 hours, Your line is impressively clean. (given DLM-4 variant lower DLM could show errors.)

to get maximum speeds they have to limit your connection speed to the sync rate.  if they haven't done that it may be harder to obtain maximum speeds.

you'd also want to make sure you were using gigabit ports or 802.11ac, and test in the middle of the night if you want to rule out congestion.  there were some threads here about orcon congestion before, but i suspect if you do have issues it will be most noticable during the evening.

that said if you're slack, usually not testing between 4:30 pm and 00:30 am is a good rule-of-thumb for residentially focused ISP's.

was the 70/10 prior to the move to 998?

Yes it didn't seem to change much with 998

Okay, i would quite likely make the assumption you were on 17a before, and you have since dropped back to 8b.

Probably be a wait it out and hope situation really..
