Is there any way to "force" the profile to 17a over 8b?
no its all done automatically via DLM

Depending on your modem you be able to play around with snr values to get it to go up there is a few threads on here with info on how to do it
My modem does allow this, do I increase the snr or decrease it?
The Vigor 130 can't SNR tweak on VDSL. The DSLAM ignores any SNR related commands from it and negotiates at the value set by Chorus (9db is most common).

DLM has a set of rules of when to consider 17a, there is no way to fool that.
Connection Is stable, is one of the conditions last time it was shared.
to have that obviously just leaving your connection alone is the best way.

Stats for ADSL were 11 DL/800K UL.
Voyager is my ISP and yes that guy installed the master filter today.
I would not do anything if I were you. Disconnecting and re-syncing etc will basically tell DLM that your line is less stable and means you will likely resync at a lower speed due to instability. The best possible thing you can do is leave it alone for about 2-3 weeks then check if your profile has updated to 17a.
Just pulled this from my ISP's radius logs since my move address install.
Time Radius Reply Cabinet Port. Downstream Upstream
My speed upgraded. This is where my vdsl is sitting now. Cabinet is about 100-200m away I can see it from the house.

I doubt mine will get any better. Im pretty happy with that. Modem is a DV130.
Incidentally I believe there is a way of tweaking the SNR on the Draytek 130;
I did a ;
> vdsl snr 50
via the ssh interface.
http://www.draytek.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=5664&Itemid=293&lang=en
but it made no difference to mine. At the end of a couple of weeks, this is what the modem has settled on.
Note the terrible upload speed.
yeah I'll get the acoustic coupler out the shed i might have better luck with that!

given your attenuation is 31 its not surprising
Remember 998 is rather asymmetric.
*Numbers i listed in the following post are wrong, see the post below. Leaving it here for readability.
Ild be quite happy to have 19/5 tbh, far better than the 17/1 im currently on.
Upstream is hugely important.
On the note of snr tweaking, you can only tweak your downstream not upstream. AFAIK you can not do it on the DV130. Despite the options.
Think of DSL like this, downstream your "Hearing" what the DSLAM is shouting at you. so adjusting the SNR your allowing yourself to "Hear" more. while upstream the DSLAM is "Hearing" you, it sets the SNR.
Power levels come into it ontop of that ofcourse, but im yet to see a modem that lets you tinker with upstream power levels. if things are "heard" too loudly, they back off quite often too in my experience with tweaking.
Your on 8b, 9dB snr which is a default profile. Simply put that command has had no active effect on your line.

@hio77 i think its 19/.5 :)
19124000 bps /1000 =19124kbps /1000 = 19.124Mbps
508000 bps /1000 = 508kbps /1000 = .5Mbps
I have had quite a hard and long day! Hospo + mothers day is a nightmare!
i could have swarn there was another zero there!
Nice catch, in that case i would say your better off moving back to ADSL, then you would get closer to 1mbit up.
You can try different modems, the DV130 is not known for getting the highest syncs of all but more stable syncs.
Certain VDSL modems are known to often get higher upstream rates than others. once again its all about the shouting and hearing analogy.

do you have a master filter?
I have no master filter and there is cat6 cable (about 3m) direct form the outside termination point to the socket where the modem is plugged in.
There is no other telephone wiring in the house and no analogue telephone wiring whatsoever.
Anyhow I've now been switched back to ADSL and my upload bandwidth is back to what it was before now so for me this is as good as it gets until 2020.
