+1 for use of irrigation pipe for cat cable ducting. Do not use garden hose as it deteriorates underground.
Use gel-filled cat cable for exterior or underground applications. The gel prevents moisture from holes or cuts migrating along the cable. It is only marginally more expensive.
Just a thought, could i use Powerline Networking/Ethernet Over Power as a temporary solution, until i get stuff sorted. Would this better than using a wifi adapter and will the other router be able to be set up at the other end using this?
Hi, you could use Powerline, but you assume the minor dwelling is on the same phase, often not, further changes in the power load at 50Hz can impact significantly on the operation at the frequencies used by the power carrier, so someone turns on an appliance and boooff goes from 100 to 0 instantly, and its very hard to predict what happens and how bad it will impact. If it were me steer clear of powerline carrier systems.
Honestly as mentioned by others either run an underground rated cat5e/6 cable or an option I have used a lot is 60ad links, these are not expensive and just need clear line of site and placed up under the eave of each building (but with clear view of each other) and dont even need to be precisely pointed, ie can be up to 10deg off alignment and work perfectly. These will provide near on GigE throughput and very low latency.

Recommendation on what kind of cable to get? Will need 50m
Ideally shielded Cat6A (S-FTP) or Cat8 for future proofing over the decades. Finding a genuine and data centre quality preterminated cable at that 50m (164 / 165 feet) length may not be easy. The vast majority of cables people buy are basic quality as they work well now with our current speeds. I doubt there is much real world performance difference between many shielded Cat6A cables and consumer cables sold as Cat8.
Cat6 and Cat6A are not the same. Some basic Cat6 cables may already fail to reach 10gbit/s at 50 metres. Doesn't matter now but may be annoying in 10+ years.
There are cables specifically rated for outdoor use. Very similar in cosmetic appearance to what Chorus uses for fibre lines to the premises.
Have one of these kits to provide a wireless link to an outbuilding. Been reliable and it is fast.
