letsgetjase: Thanks Zeon, that info is useful.
I think that I will give TelstraClear one more try tomorrow... then I will work my way through the list above calling each one and documenting the conversation and outcome.
I find it fascinating how the big communication companies are opting out of the a niche product like VDSL2+. I would like to understand why that is? What it means for the future once UFB comes online? Are they all waiting for the fibre loop to be rolled up consumer driveways before they will roll up their selves and stop this country from being hamstrung.
Greedy telco's. Data caps! I couldn't believe when I came back to this country after living in the UK for 10 years to find this pathetic data allowance and billing infrastructure in place. I am all for Telco's making money, don't get me wrong, but by CAPPING consumers data. How are we, as an islocated country, EVER meant to compete on the world stage if I can't even stream live video to my US clients! Some days I get soooooooo fustrated at the state of the our nations broadband. I know my US mates who have got faster broadband on their mobile phones!
Anyway, the my rant for the night. I am going back to ssh shell and some coding to cool down.
Until the next conversation with a Telco muppet!

Don't blame the telcos, they are not stupid. You simply do not invest in VSDL2+ during times of regulatory uncertainty.
cyril7: Dont understand, its already there waiting to go, the goods are on the shelves but the retailers dont want you to touch or buy them, very odd.

But they will have investment: staff to train them in the product, installers, buying modems, making agreements with manufacturers, change their order processes, update their back-end systems, etc.
That's millions.
If John Key is promising fibre to the home for free, why would you invest in anything else?
And don't get me started on fibre, it's an obsolete technology for most devices in 2015, as most of them will surf the internet on 4G by that time.
Seriously, it does not cost millions to provision VDSL2! The handover, the underlying technology, the modem interfaces are virtually the same as ADSL so the cost of supporting it is minor for the ISPs
