Update - I received and installed my new Thomson 585V7 router/modem and had to set up static ip via my pc so I could connect.
Utorrent still gives me the red dot. This is the third router/modem configuration I have tried. I use Comodo firewall with the correct rules for utorrent.
Does anyone know what else on a pc effects utorrent ports?
Ok I under stand I think what you are trying to do. You have cable internet? and from your cable box its going to the WRT54g then going to your d-link 524? If so they would end of having and an network conflict so one of the routers would have automatically changed to 10.1.1.1 or what ever it was so the network can operate. What I would recommend doing is reset the WRT54g and connect to it with your computer and make sure you know what ip address to connect to it which should be similar to 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254. If you want to also use your d-link 524 you will want to reset it. Then you don't want to plug it into the cable or WRT54g or cable modem yet. connect the pc to and and make sure what ip it is to connect to it. Most likely it will be the same ip as the WRT54g so you will need to change it so if your WRT54g was 192.168.1.1 I would change the d-link to 192.168.1.254. Once you have done that you will also want to disable the dhcp in the d-link 524. Ok now you can plug the d-link into your WRT54g but make sure you don't connect it into the d-link 524 wan port as and it won't work connect it like a pc would connect in. This will make your home network work as a single network so its not hard to access any part of your network. Ask any think if you are unsure on as I bad english lol
Sorry that was like half posted lol but there much point in having two nats like how you have set up but I havnt had any trouble with utorrent myself with just no configuring the ports on the modem I think it just uses upnp perhaps you might want to see if that is enabled in the router.
