mattwnz: Isn't 16GB going to be too small, as retina display aps are going to be huge in the future. You are going to get apps that are 1GB in size easily. I have already got several 500MB apps on my ipad, and they aren't retina supported.

It depends what you do with it, I currently use 5.6GB of space on mine. My iPhone is where I store my music/photos etc so I only need it for apps.

I'd think the international version?

What international version is that? The 4G frequencies are the same. The only difference is that NZ models have a different charger, except the Warehouse parallel imports which have a US charger.

Not ccorrect. That has never been the case before for an iPad or iPhone. A quick check on various Apple store web sites shows only one model with one set of frequencies, with the exception of the CDMA model offered in the US in addition to the GSM model.

There is a difference between the two LTE models offered on AT&T and Verizon: http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

The Verizon model does not support 2100MHz LTE whereas the AT&T model does.

Yeah but the point is once your 5.6GB of apps become Retina enabled, those same apps will be using up to 4x the space...

Question is, when do these stores open? I've read that Yoobee will open at 8am, but all indications are that the other stores will open at their usual 9am. Anyone know?

Yeah but the point is once your 5.6GB of apps become Retina enabled, those same apps will be using up to 4x the space...

"Up to", I would say many will only by slightly larger. I guess we will find out.

That was what I suggested by my post. Verizon is a CDMA phone company. Obviously the CDMA model will not be introduced into NZ. There is only one GSM LTE model.

I think what he was getting at is that the Verizon model supports LTE (700 MHz) while the AT&T model supports LTE (700, 2100 MHz). Anyway, we can see the frequencies that the iPad we receive will support http://www.apple.com/nz/ipad/specs/ and as assumed it is the same as AT&T.

In the event LTE is introduced in NZ it'll be unlikely the new iPad will be compatible to the operating band used.

Also if past history is any indication of future performance - NZ telecos will have issues bringing LTE to market the (remembering the whole Multi RAB saga)

It's too premature to draw this conclusion. The government hasn't even called for tenders, or even opened up the spectrum yet. The intended spectrum is in the 700 MHz range, where UHF television channels 50-62 currently reside.
