What I thought was going to be a straight forward morning turned into a major blunder. So here I was, waiting outside Bond and Bond Botany for two hours. 8am rolls over and I make my way to the counter.
"Hi, can I please have a 32GB Wifi thanks"
"Sorry, we only have 16GB Wifi"
"You are kidding me"
"Would you like to order one in?"
After some rude words were said, I rushed to Dick Smith a few stores down. They only had 16GB Wifi's as well. One of the guys I was talking with outside was in the same boat, so we hoped into his car and drove to JB Hifi, who didnt open until 9am.
We then went to Harvey Noman, who had just sold out, and then to Noel Leeming, who had also only received 16GB Wifi models. Back to JB Hifi it was! Was third in cue at 8:30am, and some of the staff handed out Invoices with the iPad model you wanted on them.
In hindsight, it was extemely lucky that JB Hifi didnt open untill 9!

Well all that makes me feel better about mine from Oz being stuck in Customs today and probably not able to be delivered until Monday.

Did they have demos out??

They have a demo out. The screen does not look much different to the second generation model.

I think you are putting out bait to invoke a reaction. The screen is twice as good.

If you don't believe, check out Rango in 1080 resolution.   It's amazing .

Are you sure you were looking at the new one, the screen is completely different, much like the iPhone 4 screen was over the iPhone 3GS etc, there's basically four times more pixels in the new screen versus the old, Yoobee had demo stock out, put them side by side and you'llbare the difference

I concur, the screen is vast improvement. Just the icons and text on the home screen is way more crisp. But it's the text in emails, Safari, Twitter\Flipboard, a lot clearer and easier to read. The textures in HD games are incredible. Haven't tried any HD movies (unlikely to for my useage) but yeah, for what I use it for, a lot of reading, it's well worth the upgrade.

Did they have the iPad on?  The screens look no different when they are off...

No, it doesn't.

dazzanz: Received my iPad from The Warehouse, I never received a tracking number though.

Count your self lucky you got what you ordered the next day.
I ordered a black ipad and recieved nothing but a phone call from the the warehouse.
They said they cannot supply me with a black one, and if I wanted it still, I would have to take a white one.
Then they said they couldn't ship it until Saturday, meaning that I wouldn't get it til atleast Monday next week :(

They offered either a freebie, but both are rubbish. The choice is either a VEON Radio Alarm Clock with Docking System or a Cygnett Armour Case. The clock is mean't to be valued at $150, but can't see that as the case is $70. To bad I don't like either.

Kind of sucks, looks like I will have to head to the stores and hope I can get one somewhere else.

Shame on the Warehouse, not being able to supply before the actual release day, worse still 5-6 days after the sale.

That's what I don't really get. Why would anyone want to order it from the Warehouse when they can't get it on launch day? Perhaps those out in rural areas of the country without a big box store may benefit, otherwise, there's no point.

I ordered it because I was hoping to get it before release and it would save me lining up - I'm currently in Taranaki and I doubt the stores here have priority on stock. Thankfully I did receive it, that is a shame that A5X didn't get his though.

Final got my ipad but had to get it from Noel lemmings. End up with a 64gb 4g model. I ask for either a 32gb or 64gb model in wifi but they had none. My quess is that there were not not many above 16gb models around nation wide except a few of the larger stores. Had to pay extra but was worth it to have 64gb on tap, no worries or regrets about not have the next model up, as this is it.

The warehouse called me at lunch time asking if I still wanted their iPad they could not ship till Saturday. I told them it was ridiculous they could not supply even though my order was valid and accepted. All they could say is sorry.

Btw. The forum look excellent on the high res screen.

Also - I know they're just MagnumMac with a new name, but "Yoobee"? Seriously? Sounds like a name for cheap gimmick store.

Heh isn't that Apples entire ethos ? :)

Nah, its an internet thing. Search site called Google, one good example.

I got mine Saturday at lunchtime, NL Moorhouse Ave, ChCh, had quite a few there, maybe 20 odd, and one each of 4G 64Gb so I got black.

After missing out at DSE in Whanganui on Friday morning (I wanted a white 4G 64GB version, they only had black) it turned out I was lucky that I was heading north for the weekend.  Tootled into Noel Leeming Rotorua before catching up with a mate and they had what I was after - in fact the manager said they had plenty of stock and hadn't sold as many as they thought.  Its my first iPad and I am very happy with it, the productivity apps I have got now are great - I work across several organisations with different IT platforms and can get and edit my docs from Google Docs, Office 365 and Dropbox.  Some of the mindmapping apps look great too.
