Unbelievably shocking speeds (just for international transit) on Orcon tonight. Latency graphs looks fine, I can get 29ms to 8.8.8.8 which is the best I'll get on ADSL2, so looks like it's throughput-related but not really congested? I'm not sure. I'm on the North Shore.

I'm on the same BNG as you and have the same traceroute. So like I said, I'm really not sure what's going on. Almost feels like an MTU issue, but it would be somewhere upstream.

bng's always de-prioritise ping traffic so no surprise - US latency looks good though. I'll ask the team to look into the general comment though...

Hmmm, we had some upstream weirdness late last week affecting <only> Twitter and possibly Wiki - but it cleared up of its own (or the upstream's) accord....

I noticed it browsing Facebook at first, then went to update some packages on my server which started an HTTP download of some file which went at 6KB/s. Source IP points to Indiana, USA.

OK, can you do a tracert to that server - there is a lot of network off-Orcon between San Jose and Indiana....

Good news is that it's still crap. I was worried maybe it would download faster now (which means maybe the traceroute would be invalidated), but it's not. Facebook is still slow as well.

Bad news is it looks to be global-gateway onwards....will raise it with our core team to investigate upstream....

Yep, still the same for me too. Yet another couple of days of poor international traffic, which only happens during peak evening hours.

It was mentioned that there is no; throttling, data shaping etc. on unlimited fibre plans... but really!?
Well if it actually is a true statement, then maybe it's high time that you need to utilize something so that everyone gets a more stable connection across your network?

I think I might just need to swap to Telecom or Vodafone. My gaming friends still have no such issues on other networks and my Vodafone ADSL used to be fine (actually 10x better international than my current fibre during evenings).

Is there any other orcon plan I can change to, that my gaming doesn't turn horrible on during peak hours? Anyone getting international slowdown on fibre limited plans?
Anyone know if I get out of my 12month contract that I signed up to, if I am being provided with sluggish international evening connection?
