Giggle:  Did that and I don't have anything like that in our account page. We only have broadband, so are you logging into the mobile site?

https://secure.2degreesbroadband.co.nz/login

Above is where I'm logging in. Under Welcome back in blue top of screen have:Summary Extras Home Phone Plus Payments Calls  Myprofile Logout.

Starting to look like to me they haven't finished setting up your account yet. Maybe need to call them to ask about it.

The Extras tab is there for me too, so here are the URLs associated with it:

Extras:

https://secure.2degreesbroadband.co.nz/addons

Extras/Hardware:

https://secure.2degreesbroadband.co.nz/addons/hardware

You could try pasting in those URLs after you have logged in and see if they work.

No such luck. I Get...

"We are currently unable to proceed with your request. Please phone 0800 022 022 for further assistance."

Do you have "Extras" of some type - purchased something considered an extra?? Maybe it's because you have a 2D mobile? Perhaps 2D could chime in?

Thanks for the help. πŸ˜€

Simplest method might be to give them a quick bell, I'm sure the CSR on the phone should be able to chime in and lend a hand.

I sure hope the switch went smoother than the six pages of discussion makes it look like!

NO-it didn't really. Not from our perspective. There was a lot of info that should have been included in the setup documentation.Like the FB's default gateway IP, the the IP range it runs on. And...see below. Perhaps my expectations are too high??

We have a small wired home network with several static IP's. That was a real issue. The FB has it's own IP range that was NOT conducive to our network. Probably would have been fine if everything was DHCP. While the FB could see those devices on the network, it hadn't assigned them an IP in the FB interface. This means I couldn't putty into my devices and change their settings. Even tried to re-route the old IP's in the FB, but it didn't work. In the end I had to plug everything back into the old router to regain access again. Then I updated to the new numbers then back to the new router and finally everything worked. Thank goodness! It's been a stressful time.

Something else they never told us. Seems they have to apply to Spark for our old phone number. Long story short - the number wasn't available at the time of changeover (and it's still NOT available), so the VOIP doesn't work. The strange thing was that it DID work for the first hour, now all I have is a large red light on the router and error message in the FB interface. 2D could have informed us up-front this was the process. So...not sure when the VOIP system goes live. Thankfully, the Spark copper setup is still connected until the changeover I assume. I'm hoping it might be the reason all the phones aren't ringing. Time will tell. I'm not holding my breath though - not with the issues we've faced. Murphy loves to tease.

Took numerous calls to support to find all this out (They couldn't help with the IP's though - guy told me they only had basic training). That worries me! There were a few other issues (problems with account name being wrong) - even though I spelled it out. When I rang about it, they told me I had to go to a store - show valid ID - to get it changed. What the heck! Another call and the second CSR said they had changed it. However, I can still see the old mis-spelled version in one of the windows on the website. Doesn't figure!! Also 2D's website keeps giving me a "Too Many Sessions" warning when I try to login. It won't let me login, so I have to wait quite a while before it'll let me login. Who knows why??

To be honest, I found Sparks website to be superior. Never had these types of issues.

One thing I found really frustrating - one CSR person told me one thing, then the next told me something else in complete contradiction. At least they were always friendly 😁. And...I never had to wait long on the phone to get through to them. πŸ€—

Overall, way more hassle than I wanted. Still...technology is a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get.

I'm NOT trying to be too critical here (it probably sounds more critical than is intended). Stuff happens!!! But...crap like this isn't what an oldie wants...or needs! And...most of us resist change - so having to get up to speed on new stuff seems harder. I've just tried to document here the affair so others may have a deeper insight into possible problems.

We're hoping the VOIP phone will go live this week - but who knows. That seems to be a Spark timeframe.

In the end, 2D's internet connection seems similar to Spark's in speed (though I never took any readings before and after). The FB interface is showing  (69,8 Mbit/s ↑ 21,0 Mbit/s).  One thing I have noticed, some sites load faster and some load much slower than when connected to Spark. Not sure why this would be??

Oh well...that's about it too my ramblings. Thanks to everyone for the comments. They have helped immensely.

Kindest regards - and have a great holiday if you've got them.

That's a bit of a shame - aside from the number not porting across though that is kind of what most internet service providers are like these days - back in the day they MIGHT have spent some time talking to you about setting up new static IPs on your LAN, but it's not considered their domain these days as it isn't common for a home network (and if it was used they expect the person to know how to make things work)

I'd be most concerned about the number not porting - did they give a reason? This should only take a few hours, a business day at the most...

I have seen the name issue before, though it is still a bit concerning (not necessarily 2Degreees). Maybe if they have someone around, @2degreescare can look deeper into the telephone issue

I was told it was a time issue (perhaps because of the holidays??). 2D told me the date was 30 Dec for the phone. Time will tell.

Like I said, it probably sounds more critical than I really feel about all this. I'm happy to be on an unlimited connection now - and for slightly less $$ than the Spark connection giving us only 60Gb per month. I try NOT to let expectation cloud things, but unfortunately it does.

There is a part of me that thinks internet companies should have more to do with a clients setup - mainly because the internet and the fact their router makes it all possible - is a major part of the persons hub. Everything appears to be networked now and I would've thought static IP's where pretty common. Well they are in the forums I frequent. Perhaps the question COULD have been asked at the time of signing??

On another note, one does learn a lot from the situation, although with my brain I'll probably have forgotten it all in a couple weeks πŸ˜‰. It'll all settle down and this drama will be a thing of the past. It has at least given me a better understanding of our current setup.

Take care.

Problem with the provider doing the setup is they would get resistance from people who have their own modem/network setup and don't want it touched/changed by anyone else.

It's the holiday period, they're probably on skeleton staff.

I got two stickers inside modem box that had all the Fritz box access info, default gateway info. They have different passwords as well, it's not Admin/Admin like with a lot of others.

Pity you didn't mention red light earlier for trouble shooting.

When I switched from Spark, I told 2degrees I wished to keep same number, they did it all from their end, no problems with number port.

Regards the web site, you need to logout when finished. If just close the web browser will get the to many sessions, as even though you can't see the log in, it will still be logged in from the previous browser session. Takes a couple of hours to clear out if don't log out.

Not really expecting provider to do the setup - just wish more info had of been provided.

I know there are so many possibilities that I guess the task is daunting. Because of this, most providers probably do a pretty good job of sorting it all out. I haven't changed providers in several decades, so I have no comparison.

Thanks - I was pretty certain I did actually log out of the website, but the memory is fading πŸ™„

Overall, their staff have been good whether they are skeletons or not πŸ˜„

There is No default gateway info on anything at this end. I had to ring CS.

Part of the same phone number issue could have been my original problem in that 2D somehow messed up the original order that would have left me waiting indefinitely for the connection. Still, when I rang about this, their CSR did tell me that Spark had advised them 30 Dec for the number changeover - even though the internet connection happened sooner. We'll get there in the end I guess.

Yeah...red light was something I found out later in this discussion. Hopefully, once the number is finally sorted we'll find the phones ALL ring. Not holding my breath though. We're hoping this happens in the next few days. Time will tell.

Thanks for the insight.
