I would suggest replacing the Fritzbox with something with at least 2.5Gb WAN and LAN ports.

As others have said, an upgrade / fix in your network may be needed, as those speeds indicate something Cleary wrong.

I upgraded my network before I went to hyperfibre purely so it was worth my while.. Happy with the results,

Erm what? You suggesting you've connected your computer straight to the ONT and are literally also using that computer as a makeshift router? That's incredibly insecure if you have.

Thanks for the concerns, completely agree. I work in cybersecurity though and there's a particular reason for this setup. Definitely not one to be copied.

I work in Cybersecurity also and fully agree, you're nuts for doing this :) - there are safer ways of doing it while still giving you the ability to capture the wild west of the internet if you need to.

Wow. Looks like it's too much for me to learn to enhance my interior network setting.

First of all, i was just thinking about HF 1000 is not enough for streaming 4K video, and also for downloading big games on Steam only like 2MB-4MB/s, so i chose to upgrade that when I see 2D got HF2000/4000.

But now, after I reading the reply from you guys, I have to admit i need to learn how to set the interior network in a right way.

My ONT and Fritzbox are setting up in the lounge at front of my house, and my house is kind of trangle shape. All 3 bedrooms are at the other side. There about 15 meters away to my bedroom and also some barriers standing between. In my bedroom, my PC couldn't get the signle straight from the lounge, so I put a wall wifi extention nearby my bedroom. The 15mbps result is from my PC terminal test. I just checked my PCIE wireless adapter, guess what... it's a 300mbps adapter.....

I have tried my laptop next to the ONT and Fritzbox, through WIFI I can get like 600mbps from speedtest.net now. I tried to connect the cable straight from ONT to my laptop lan port, but couldn't get online.

Wow, even 300/100 fibre at a much lower cost should see speeds about 10x faster than what you are getting. You are totally wasting money on hyperfibre, paying for a much faster connection than you either need or have the equipment to handle.

Wifi extenders are pretty much the worst possible thing you could do for speed and really should be removed. In very simple terms, you need to get the wifi much closer to the devices using it. Can you run a network cable from your fritz router and connect a decent wifi access point near the bedrooms?

I think the only way now is moving Fritzbox to somewhere close to bedroom and run a long cable to the ONT...

Yep that would work too, but if you need coverage for the whole house, you may as well leave the fritz at one end and a wifi access point at the other.

If you want to go down that track, people here can give you some recomendations as to what to buy and how to configure it. A sketch of your house and where the router etc is located would probably help.

Ideally, computers should be connected via a wired network connection rather than wifi (it's just better), but your wifi looks so bad currently that improving that should easily get the performance you need which would be easier than having lots of cables.

I will repeat some of the stuff here but in bullet points:

You don't need 2 Gbps for 4K
Test? Over Ethernet only, never Wi-Fi
Your old Fritz 7490 can barely support 1 Gbps (even the 7590 won't do 2 Gbps) so that's a bottleneck
Your wireless card does not support fast networks
Your house has a weird shape for Wi-Fi - consider a decent router and perhaps some mesh network nodes if possible linking those via Ethernet
Even with a mesh network and a good router, consider 1 Gbps only - paying too much for 4K

This would have to be the third time this month we are seeing a post like this….
someone call the hotline…..I think an epidemic is on the way (hyperfiber will be the new replacement to the old “ VDSL tuning thread” and maybe eclipse the “what laptop should I buy”.

I wouldn't even do that. I would go back to their 300/100Mbit plan (just their standard plan). You don't need anything more than this.

I also don't think you should pay an early termination fee. They should have done their due-diligence with ensuring you had a suitable router for Hyperfibre and they would have known you had an older Fritz!Box. I would escalate this if you get told you need to pay any fee.

Then, have a look on Trademe for another FritzBox 7490 - there are a few on there. These can "mesh" together really easily and there are instructions here. I highly recommend you do that and also get rid of the WiFi repeater which will be actually causing more issues than you're trying to solve. The problem with WiFi repeaters is they will halve your WiFi speed in the process and create interference - over the years I've ripped so many out of households.

Even the most basic plan, 50/10Mbit that 2degrees offer will be ample for 4K streaming on Netflix. I recommend the 300Mbit plan just to give you a little more headroom but there is no way you need Hyperfibre, and you even don't need to fork out extra for Gigabit.
