jjnz1:
For example, right now its 3.48pm on Wednesday, and I have decided to watch some HD trailers on my black Apple TV, using my normal orcon connection, it goes bloody slow sometimes not even loading, BUT, when I use my VPN, WOW, full 8Mbps. Instant gratification! ;)

How do you explain that? Cant be my exchange, or people around me using the net...

It can be, since when you use VPN you're just getting data locally, which is much quicker, and the burden of international capacity has been shifted from orcon to other company; which you paid for.

Sounds like a mighty fine idea though.. will look into it.

Same thing happening for weeks now in Kaiapoi Exchange near Christchurch.  If i hear "but you must do an isolation test" again i'm gonna strangle someone..

Only at nights, most sites slow as molasses, getting no real response from orcon.  Paying plenty for a max max plan and not getting anywhere near that.

Can't stream to Atv or TVNZ on demand on PS3...  whats the point...

Hope it gets resolved soon.

Ugh, I too have noticed serious speed issues this week so far.  Seems between 8-11pm international traffic is dropping to excruciatingly slow speeds.

Haven't had issues with Orcon for so many months, disappointing to see this now.

i was very haapy with orcon for years, just dont know why it's happen, now the international speed at night is not too bad, but sometimes still a little slow, it's not fully fix yet.

Getting better now. Difference between local and overseas sites seems less than early evening.

Its really wierd as I never have problems with Orcon speed? Maybe because I'm on orcon+ network?

As mentioned, this week is the first slowness I've experienced in months, possibly years with Orcon.  But yeah at about 11.15pm last night everything shot up to max speed again.  Pretty much all of us are ont he Orcon+ network.

just had probably the best service from Orcon Support staff ever.... Actually had an idea what my problem could have been. Escalated my ticket to urgent. Will wait and see what transpires.... (takes in deep breath and holds).....

In the 5 or so years I've been with Orcon, I've never had poor customer service from them.  Just poor international speeds now and then.

Exactly the same situation for me, all was well again with the internetz, but tonight dropped down to dismal speeds again.
