That is not Fibre but HFC (Hybrid fiber-coaxial) which is a mix of Coax and Fibre

Even that name is a bit of a misnomer (assuming that I understand it correctly); it's fibre to the node but the cable that enters your house is just coax, not a hybrid cable. From that perspective it's as much "fibre" as ADSL is!

Bring it up with Wikipedia but yes you are correct in a way

At least we didn't go down the same road as the UK, where ADSL can be sold as "fibre" so long as it reaches the local cabinet...

Thanks everyone! Completly thought that we were getting fibre so pretty shocked by this. So am I correct in thinking, if we unplugged the fibrex from this port and connected the tv to this port, we would get tv signal/channels? Have a satelite dish aerial.

How new is your house out of interest if it is a new build then they will have used existing wiring to get the connection working but if itbis older the will have had to drill to get the connection in there. What city are you in by the way.

Umm maybe they may have unplugged your satellite dish from the other end of that cabling and plugged in their own cable. But that connection may be all installed by vodafone meaning it won't have ever been attached to a satellite dish.

Check the chorus website to see if fibre is available at your address I would guess no or vodafone would have installed fibre.

They did say that it was their cable when the salesman came around! Just want tv channels on my tv haha! and not have to pay for their vodafone tv!

In which case you need an aerial or satellite dish.

Vodafone would never do that. Quad shield is minimum spec for cable and they won't touch anything not installed by them.
