Ok thanks, so the port we have is specifically for hybrid fibre-coaxial internet not tv? We have a satelite dish but since we are an apartment must not have a tv port linked to the dish.
Thanks
Umm maybe they may have unplugged your satellite dish from the other end of that cabling and plugged in their own cable. But that connection may be all installed by vodafone meaning it won't have ever been attached to a satellite dish.
Vodafone would never do that. Quad shield is minimum spec for cable and they won't touch anything not installed by them.
Ok this is exactly what they did at my parents house so I do not know about never.
Every time you say "Never", a technician with one of the many LFC/Chorus/Vodafone service partners gets a clever new idea to make his job easier and more efficient, surely you know this by now sbiddle :P
They shouldn't just pick up existing RG56/RG6, but in the heat of the moment/if the customer makes enough noise, it's amazing what's suddenly possible.
OP, the short and skinny of it is see if your TV is Freeview Digital compatible, and if it is look into picking up an indoors antenna from the Warehouse, otherwise bite the bullet on the Vodafone box. Everything else will (by my suspicions) be far more involved than you'll want it to be, although if you have a tech-y mate you might be able to rope them in for a couple of beers and dinner to sort it out.
