simplestuff: Simplest solution in my opinion is Windows 7 version 7137 or later finds the Nova T 500 and all required without any add on Just setup Media centre and everything works. Then get Bigscreen Epg register and setup and evrything goes 14 days Epg Hd etc.

Even if you have an ATI card? 7100 finds my nova T 500 etc perfectly , its just that channels are black or green except 1,2 and 3.

Typical that Microsoft support hd on a new platform. Thanks for the information it will no doubt bug me now whether to jump into unknown territory ...again. (platform wise)

I had the same problem with GBPVR and installed the monogram codex, I run Vista X64 (Actually Windows 2008 Server). When I put the ax file into Program Files (x86) and ran regsvr32 on it, it worked fine. Once I got that working I had sound but no Picture. It seems the directshow H264 codec doesn't work with GBPVR on my system, I had to change it to the ArcSoft decoder to get a picture. And yes it is a shame the WIndows Media Player doesn't support the LATM-HE-AAC codec, but VLC Player seems to work fine. I got WinVT 7 bundled with my card - got it from PBTech.

so you entered "regsvr32 C:\Program Files (x86)\mmaacd.ax"? into run? That doesn't work for me, unfortunately.

I had it in a directory called Mux under Program files (x86), So the command I entered was :

c:

cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\mux\"

regsvr32 mmaacd.ax

But I'd be very surprised if that fixes your problem, Have you tried re-downloading the monogram codec incase it's corrupt?

You can get it here: http://epg.pvr.geek.nz/epg/freeview-web.xml.gz. Doesn't seem to have TV3 or C4, but has TV1, 2, 6, 7 and Sport Extra, haven't checked the accuracy yet.

Having the same issue on Windows Media Center with almost the same hardware. Nova T 500 and an ATI 4670 card on Win 7 7100. I don't see any video on anything other than the HD channels.

WinTV 7 which comes with the tuner card plays video on all channels and audio sort of. There is all sorts of audio dropouts and video freezes.

Is there a recommended solution for DVB-T in New Zealand?

Sounds like you might be having issues with poor signal strength. What is the distance from your freeview aerial to te computer, how many joins/splitters etc? Check your fly leads too, that caught me out, I ended up doing away with the fly lead and pulling the RG6 cable out of the wall and plugging it straight into the tuner card.

Had a look at the signal strength meter in WinTV7 it says strong signal with 0 errors. It is just the sound on WinTV7 sorry not the pics.
Windows media center is however working perfectly on all the HD channels and they are in the same stream as the SD channels so it isn't a signal strenght or quality issue. I am almost certain it is a video card/ driver issue but don't know how to prove it. I saw another thread here taking about video cards that work. I assume from this that there are video cards that don't :-(

There are several threads already about this.

It is really simple.

ATI = No Freeview|HD channels that are not broadcast in HD (ie everything but 1,2,3).
NVidia = Freeview|HD works on all channels.

Thanks Nety that was the conclusion I was getting to. I am not familiar with the NVidia range at all, don't ever play video games, need a card with HDMI output that is HDCP compliant to feed my 1080p TV any suggestions?

Geforce 8400GS and up will do fine including bluray if you get it.

Have a look at this page. Half way down it lists in a table what level of hardware acceleration cards have. You need at least V2 or V3 of purevideo.

Please make sure you reference that table because as you will see looking at it just because a card is a higher number does not mean it has the same or better version of purevideo. Also for instance only the newer releases of the 8400GS cards have V3. Older ones have V2.

Should have also mentioned that you do not need to have a card with HDMI out. DVI=HDMI so you can just get a cable that goes from DVI to HDMI or some cards come with a adapter. There is no difference picture wise as they both use the same signal DVI is just a different plug.
On some cards you can even send SPDIF sound via the DVI port.

Went and got a Gigabyte 8400GS today for about $85 will see how I get on later tonight when I get home. It was new stock they unpacked while i waited so I suppose it's a more recent version. No sign on the website or packaging if the card is V2 or V3 of purevideo, will find out I suppose.
