kiwitrc: I am going to flash Siyah 2.1RC1 kernal via CWM, do I simply copy the entire file over to my int-sd card or do I extract it and then copy it?

I just flashed Siyah 2.1RC1 last night using Odin. Quick and painless.

Main point for me was getting BLN working, which it is.

Also got around to installing SetCPU last night too. No huge help yet, as I have been a battery hog with WiFi 3G Bluetooth on 24/7 and several apps running 24/7 including Skype, a couple of IM programs and push email 24/7.

Will ramp down my connectivity and see what battery life I can get.

Thanks for posting. I always wondered if the S2 would get ICS 4.0. 2nd Quarter 2012 seems a while away, but still good news.

How much is the SII costing these days, without a contract, and where do you get it from? I'm on 2degrees who don't seem to supply the SII.

Sorry if this has been covered before, I figured the easiest way would be to ask here :)

I bought mine 3 weeks ago from Expert Infotech in Auckland,  it ended up costing around $770 including courier and credit card fee. The cheapest retailer on PriceSpy with the phones in New Zealand not shipped from overseas. They're still parallel imported, mine came from Romania, I received it in the sealed box with everything stock as it should be, came with a NZ power adapter outside of the box. No problems with the ordering but have read about people who have had issues with Warranties with Parallel imported phones, including expert infotech so the real test could be if I needed a warranty repair.

Dick Smith seem to be the cheapest big retailer with the S2 currently on special there for $949 until the 7th of November, would be a better choice if you want local stock / store pickup, and a shop front to take the phone back to for a New Zealand Samsung warranty.

You really have to make the choice to buy parallel imported or not, I saved around $250 when I bought mine parallel imported instead of from a NZ stock retailer such as DS, or Telecom / Vodafone.

Oh and mine is on 2degrees too and running well in Wellington so you shouldn't have any issues on that front, I just put my sim in and it was good to go.

Thanks asmcar. Even $770 is quite a bit for a phone when my old Nokia does everything I need, and i'd prefer NZ new so $950 is pretty crazy. Maybe one day when I feel like treating myself, or when the price comes down due to volume. That costs more than my 10" tablet!

Damn, that is a wee while away, I was hoping first Q 2012. I might be rooting and flashing my phone as soon as CM 9 drops. I've been stock since I got my phone, might be time to man up! Laughing

Man I've tried a few different roms and I'm still getting massive Android OS Process battery drain and my wakelocks are not very apparent. Currently Android OS has used 35% of my battery with 1h10m CPU usage over a 12h period.

Currently using CheckROM Revolution v2.0 with Speedmod K2-13 Kernel.

What are betterbatterystats and CPU Spy telling you about wakelocks?

CPU Spy said overnight I had about 80% deep sleep. The wakelocks don't show anything using up a large amount of CPU with mainly twitter and google sync using a couple of minutes of cpu each.
The battery graph showed a large period overnight where the screen was off, but the device was awake. Can't figure out what is doing it. May need to try another rom - I have a hunch about Jkay deluxe themes.

I'm running Jkay deluxe and it is not contributing to abnormal battery drain

That said last night i tried the ICS 4.0 theme on Checkrom HD and and now suffering drain of 8~10% per hour and its not a sleep issue [insert head banging here]. I really hope it is not the theme as it is the nicest theme I have come across to date

If the real ICS is anything like this theme I can't wait as its beautiful!!!!
