tonypnz: Hmm what happens if you can no longer get into recovery mode. I flashed Siyah 2.1.1 using DarkyROM Tool and now my phone just gets to the boot screen and pauses. I can't seem to get into recovery mode either by holding down the three buttons and then releasing the power button. I've tried taking the battery out and replacing. Any ideas?

Just keep trying; download mode is part of the bootloaders, and they're not touched when flashing a kernel. . . so you can't hard-brick your phone doing this sort of thing. I suppose it's possible that CWM has lost the plot though, but as long as you can get into download mode, you can re-flash the .tar file via Odin.

Bit of a pedantic question here. Installed Dlev 3.1 last night and having fun setting it all up today, the only thing I cant seem to find an option for is the black and white icons in the contact list. Not sure if this is a 2.3.5 feature of part of the custom rom. I would like to set all the icons to the white value so far it seems I cant tell what makes them change to the black ones which are too dark imo, I looked into individual settings and the group settings with no luck.

P.S. Loving the Dlev, Siyah combination. Had 1% battery drain overnight - thats a first

Yup running Dlev now.. Once all tweaked with Juice Defender, got my best day yesterday, 9am - 2am with moderate use & still had 37% battery!!

Love it, (although still a tiny bit buggy. Doesnt like Weatherbug & some app updates)

Hey guys, finally picked up one of these, being a long time Darkys fan i flashed Darkys 2.3.5 KI3, what modems are you guys using? (im on 2degrees) my 3g seems to be pretty flakey.

I flashed BUJV3 since it worked well on my original SGS but its still not the best.

Ummmm. . . . they're completely different devices at a hardware level though. The modem is built on each system to work that specific hardware, and no others.

Not disagreeing with you, as clearly you have it working, but I really don't think it's a good idea.

Anyways, the best modem I've found for Vodafone is KG5 - give that a whirl.

If you flash anything from the SGS1 onto the SGS2, you will be lucky to have a working device at all. Other people have had to buy a new phone.

install zip from sd card
the first time it installed it stop and said installation failed.
Tried rebooting and screen went black after 20 sec with bootscreen

Then i repeat reinstall and it said install success but after reboot the screen went black again and nothing. Power off n on and back to recovery menu?! run out of idea any one? is this officially a brick phone now?

Why!? did you try to install a ROM for an entirely different phone onto your sgs2???!!! Will you breathe water instead of air next?
It was extremely foolish. I am floored that you got the phone to do ANYTHING after that. Usually this results in sending the phone back to samsung and paying $$$. For your own good, you need to read up MUCH MUCH more carefully than you have done.

Ok; now to help:

You say you have the recovery menu, so perhaps all is not lost yet - by some miracle (buy a lotto ticket).

I think you will have to get the phone into download mode and flash a stock firmware for your phone. Any of the european 2.3.4 (not 2.3.5) versions of android for the i9100 should be ok. Consult with us here when you think you have it all ok.

More detailed instructions are available in my FAQ below. You will want section 4a "Flashing a stock ROM with Odin". Start at step 5 as you have buggered it for any of the earlier bits.

Everyone makes mistakes. This was a bad one, I feel your pain, but maybe you have been really lucky. You rushed in and made a big mistake, didn't look at what forum you are in.

Hopefully I've been able to help. Let us know.

Might be a bit beyond that now - he's likely screwed up the file system and/or file permissions.

Odin and a stock rom I think. Best way. I think the PIT file too.
