nzgman: ok so I have just swapped from the Telecom network to Vodafone (through black and white) and have flashed the vodafone build onto my phone (it's a parallel imported one that I have had for ages now) but my reception is now not the best. Just after the best modem for Vodafone in Wellington? and if possible a link to download it.

current build = Stock 4.0.3
baseband version i9100xxlpx
Kernel Version 3.0.15-i9100XWLPI-CL686447
DPI@DELL141 #3
BUILD NUMBER = IML74K.XWLPI

Thanks

Here is some radios for the SSII - http://veyka.co.uk/sgs2/radios/

Thanks

Any ideas which one I should go with though? or should I start with the last one and see what it's like?

Great news for Vodafone. How about for Telecom NZ customers?

Just done the upgrade on mine last night, no problems apart from the shortcuts on the home screen gone and there been no 'push' available on the Gmail app.

hi geekzoners,

long time lurker here, just registered today to ask for help on my VFNZ SGS2. it is stock, nothing rooted nothing installed except the usual apps from play store. it was on 4.0.3 i think. the problem is related to vfnz latest FW, which i downloaded and installed. steps i followed

1) backed up data using kies
2) downloaded the FW (~360mb)
3) installed the update
4) little robot does its thing
5) rebooted to the SGS2 GT-I9100 screen and sits there :(

things i've done
6) i've tried rebooting it by taking out the battery, but nothing happens when i restart
7) i took it to a vodafone store and the guy there tried factory resetting it, but still same result after reboot
8) the only option he suggested was that i get it sent away and they will reflash it but that takes 5-10 business days.

questions i have
9) have i permanently bricked my phone?
10) if not, how can i get my phone to get past the booting screen and be operational again
11) i'm happy to go back to 4.0.3 if it's easier, i want to keep the phone standard and stock as it meets my needs for what i want it to do

if anyone has suggestions, can you please list the steps as i'm good at following instructions but please assume i'm dumb because if it's missing a step i really won't know that.

Samsung Kies has a option to recover firmware or something like this, Have you tried that option?
