How long did you take the Battery out for?
I recommend at least 10mins

If you are really worried about stuffing up a reflash and you live in Auckland pm me and I can do it, and if you want show you.
I have flashed my SII and friends more times than I can remember. Also have flashed other phones as well. And have never bricked any (touch wood lol)

thanks everyone for the advice and confidence boost for flashing so far.

@joker97, that's a relief to hear. i don't have a cat, and i'll make sure that battery is fully charged before trying the firmware flash. :) just have to be careful not to be doing anything else on the computer while i wait

@nzgeek, your comment also gives me confidence that i can do this. what should i be doing (or not doing) to avoid corrupting the bootloader (what does that mean?)

@adamvnz, thanks for the offer but i'm in wellington so bit far to drive. and no, i did not take out the battery for 10mins. maybe more like 10-30 secs. i'm a bit of a numpty as previously mentioned, if i'm not told specifically that it should be longer i just assume its "remove, wait 2 secs, put back in and reboot". i'll try the 10mins, i'm assuming that i don't have to time this? stupid question but best to ask to be sure.

Get latest Odin from here http://android.sc/download-odin-3-07/

and follow the Odin step 3 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125282

Use the file joker97 also gave a page back and all should be sweet

just wanted to say thanks to everyone who sooth my nerves, i have my phone back :)

it took me about 15mins because i was paranoid about double checking everything, but the links that joker97 and adamvnz provided was clear cut. i don't even know why i was worried, although i did have a brief moment when the phone didn't reboot itself after the flash. i waited for about 10 mins before deciding that a manual power reboot was in order.

interesting to note that i kept all my content intact, despite doing the wipes. not complaining at all.

Shoes2468: So I took the plunge and followed the instructions found in the link below as Joker recommended

and found it was surprising easy really, kept all my data and everything, the modem which is packaged seems pretty average, seem to have 1 less bar of signal than usual, i9100t using on 2degrees, thinking of flashing the old ICS modem back on, but where would one get the files to do this?

So now that the official jelly bean update for the i9100t is out what is the easiest way to get back on that and get Kies working again? do I just need to download the pda and flash with odin and all is good in the world or is it more complicated than that?

Was there a brief window of opportunity today for updating Telecom S2 to Jellybean?
I saw a big update was available today about 2pm but didnt want to use up my data. Home now on wifi, but phone now saying no update is available.
Now wish I had just updated while I had the chance!

I have the same thing with one of my phones, but it updates fine via Kies - albeit very slowly, to the point that windows thinks the application has crashed.

Hey rscole86, you say your update to a long time - how long? My phone has been sitting on the Downloading... green man for about an hour and a half meanwhile my pc said it had lost the connection. Just wondering if I need to leave it longer or pull the pin.

It would have taken around that long total. The only times I had concerns were due to Kies hanging. While the phone was updating itself (green man) that only took around 20mins, then went straight to the welcome screen.

I pulled the pin - took the battery out and .... it rebooted with no upgrade. Phew!

Just performed the same upgrade routine in Kies. My pc downloaded the firmware and when attempting to upgrade the phone its screen is again sitting saying Downloading ... A notice has popped up on my PC screen saying that has failed to recognise the mobile phone and to disconnect, remove battery etc but he phone also says "do not turn off target".

Confusing, isn't it?

Stuff it - I'm just going to leave things over night and see what happens. I had just better remember to override my pc close-down setting.

Hi im not sure how long the battery lasts but i'm thinking of buying an oem 3500mAh battery from dx.com for 9USD ... Is it safe? Anyone used these giant batteries before? Thanks
