mrgsm021: I've just tried to use Navigon for the first time on my SGS2 but it says an error ocurred and just closed out of the app.

Has anyone experienced such problem? Can Navigon be used on SGS2? Can't really think of a reason why it can't be.

Sorry forgot to mention I got Navigon when it was free download on SGS with Aus/NZ maps.

Yep, I've used Navigon on the SGS2 and it's the free app.  I do recall I had a few problems.  I know I've used Market Enabler (pretending to be an Aus network) and downloaded the latest update of the app.  See if that sorts it out.

Thanks Neets for the advise, I will give that a try and see if I can get it to work.

Weird - I can't get it to appear free like it used to - the Australian version is 35 quid?

Quid?  I can find it but it's $49.95.  Maybe I should select something other than Telstra to fake.  I think there was a code you could enter on the 3rd tab of Market Enabler.  I'll go search the thread.  I know R2D2 has mentioned it a couple of times on another thread.  I'll be back!

Mmm, something has changed.  This was the thread on GZ it was previously report.  But even using these fake settings the app is no longer free.

I'll look to see if I've got the new apk file.  I have one saved for installing just in case, but not sure it's the latest.

nofam: The new Ninphetamine 2.0 kernel is out - have just flashed, and it feels more responsive than before.

Updates to follow.

Not that I've changed from the kernel in Cognition 1.15.  But I've had 2 random reboots and I've not UC/OV.

Rather peculiar.

Known issue with that kernel. (Ninphetamine 1.4). 2.0 fixes the issue (supposedly).

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.navigon.navigator_select_samsung_pac

Says it's not compatible with my SGS2 though, current recognising that it's an XT version which may be why.

There was a market update yesterday which may be responsible. It might be exposing more information about the actual SIM in the phone perhaps?

Yup, it's the market. Downgraded back to the "old" style market (put the /system/app/Vending.apk from my Galaxy Tab onto my SGS2) and Navigon pops up again.

Interestingly, the free version is 3.6.1 whereas the pay version is 3.6.2. I wonder if they've stopped supporting the free one now? The pay version is currently on "special", perhaps to tempt existing users over? The only changes listed for 3.6.2 is fixes for Honeycomb so it doesn't really matter. (None of the devices it's supposed to be available for should have Honeycomb on them anyway so it's pretty moot)

I was wondering how can I go back to having stock ROM but rooted and on 2.3.4? My was phone was previously on stock rom 2.3.3 but somewhere during the process or rooting and installing rom I got to 2.3.4.

Right now I'm on:

Android v 2.3.4
baseband: i9100XXKG1
Cognition S2 v1.15
Kernel: 2.6.35.11 -ninphetamine+ DesignGears@minty #8

Also when I went into CWM recovery mode, there is an option to wipe cache and data - what kind of data does this wipe, wipe?
I'm hoping to do another clean install of Cognition after wiping everything.

You flash a stock 2.3.4 from samfirmware with odin, then you flash a compatible CF-root kernel.

It'll wipe everything too. Back to factory. So use the bought version of titanium backup first if you want to.

Done.

Problem solved, just had to uninstall the app and used market enabler to reinstall. It was still free for me to reinstall btw.

I had a look at - http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-i9100.htm firmwares and only a handful of them have 2.3.4.

So is it okay even if I bought the phone from UK, I could flash any firmware from any region?

Anyways since  my phone is currently running XXKG1 I downloaded I9100XXKG1.rar, extract it and just flash it with odin and I'm good to go?
And to root it how about using Super one click ?

Yes, I also bought mine from UK which came with a English ROM, can't remember which version, I flashed it to ZSKG2 which is a traditional Chinese ROM, and happily using it.
