I know this has been a bone of contention for many subscribers, so good news, Sky will drop it's $10 HD ticket fee, which I think is overdue and welcome.

Also reported,

Sky Television is preparing for the loss of a further 93,000 subscribers by June 2023 after reporting a 20 per cent profit drop for the six months to end of December.

There are currently 41 channels on Sky that can go HD including 4 x Freeview and their own Auckland based playout, e.g., 5, Vibe, Rialto, Rugby Channel.

EDIT: I pick that they are still so tight that they only do the local stuff.

If you aren't a subsciber why do you care? Lots of people like Sky and find it reasonable value. It's also one of the only ways they can get access to content.

Seems a little petty.

I'm considering going although I'd prefer to stay. No F1 means a heavily diluted value now for me. But I'll stick around for the puck announcement, it may come a bit sooner now.

Its 750k subscribers now? Years ago it was over 800,000. Thats say 100,000 in a few years, thats not a lot per year despite the graveyard comments every year/month. Over 40% of NZ think its ok

As long as the majority of Rugby is on Sky, and there isn't a practical and cheaper way to watch it, or until such time as I can find curated channels like Food TV which contain both overseas and Kiwi Chefs, I believe I will remain with Sky.

My kids mainly watch Youtube or Netflix now, but occasionally there might be something on Sky. Wouldn't keep it for kids content only.

Good move with the HD ticket decrease. I'm paying $24.91 for starter and Sports is $29.90, so $54.81 per month, or $12.65 per week with the HD dropping off. I'm pretty happy with that for the amount of rugby, cricket, NBA and NFL I watch.
